The embassy scene didnt make sense

It really didn't make sense that he would tell his daughter to crash the US Marines checkpoint. He knew they would open fire on the car possibly hitting his daughter,, and the car possibly kill or injure US personnel. What did he really have to gain from doing this? He lost the tail on him at the train track. Even if there was another guy gaining on him, if he just pulled up to the checkpoint and stopped, its not like 2-3 guys with pistols were going to open fire at the car with a bunch of armed US Marines standing there.
The much more realistic scenario would be him pulling up to the checkpoint, identifying themselves as Americans, and saying 'watch my daughter, I have to rescue my wife who's been kidnapped by criminals"

I also think it's kind of telling that rather than showing any resolution to that scene, the film shows him calling his friend and then saying something to his daughter. They knew there was no reasonable way to end that scene they just cut to action elsewhere.

They could have done it like in Bad Boys II where they shout out that they're Americans, though I don't know why he couldn't have called the embassy on his cell phone on the way. Well at least they didn't use the cliche where the phone batteries are running out.

He didn't have time to call anybody. he was to busy directing his daughter into only barely crashing instead of really crashing until they got there. Plus he knew everyone will patiently wait until he makes his phone call. The bad guys did it when he and his wife were at gunpoint and also when they patiently let him have his privacy when they had him tied in the basement.

I wondered why he didn't get help from people in the embassy whether it was the marines outside or whoever, before he went off to rescue his wife. Of course he goes as the lone ranger and it doesn't matter because the enemies are so inept.

And the scene with his daughter letting off grenades was hilarious - what if someone was in the car in the parking lot where the first one was thrown? After that she doesn't even look where they are being tossed?

The film really reminded me of the Transporter movies with Jason Statham, except the violence is toned down in this film for the box office friendly PG 13 rating. I had no idea it was the same director as Transporter 3 until I just found out on here.

He's a modern day Rambo... he'd risk getting hit by a stray bullet and having both his wife and himself killed (and his daughter orphaned) rather than ask for help from the damn US embassy.

You guys are being naiive.

Smart, logical, but naiive.

This is a movie you can enjoy if you just switch the logical part of your brain off.

None of this logical stuff ruined the film for us, and we enjoyed it a whole lot.

For me the Embassy scene and the grenade scenes made no sense.

also the soldiers had huge mounted guns (i dont know the names) that Im pretty sure would have torn the car in half.

Welcome to a Liam Nesson movie ;)

Don't forget that after he crashes through the checkpoint he then phones the guy on the golf course who can pull the strings to get them cleared.

Call me stupid, but how about not crashing through the checkpoint and calling the golf course guy first? He can still get them cleared, right?

I agree the whole scene was just a bit too daft.

Despite that, I wanted to see some sort of reaction from the US Marines - were they willing to look after the daughter? Were they angry for what they'd done to the checkpoint? That they'd put their lives at risk.

But no... nothing.

She had a ton of beginners luck!

As an apologist turned authority I don't defend my comments because I am always right.

One thing nobody seem to talk about - the whole thing takes places in the afternoon, but not late because after the whole scene, we see him in a boat following the steps back to the villans? So he calls his buddy in US, half way across the world, where we see him playing golf conveniently STILL IN THE AFTERNOON :)))) This is the funniest thing.

This whole Taken 2 IntantBull is such a bad written movie, it kinda hurts our intelligence!!

Also I was just re-watching the car chase scene where Kim is driving. We see her crash HEAD-ON into the side of a police car. Not only does the car's engine keeps going ( it's possible ) but when she's backing off the car's front is INTACT and even the paint is all shiny and clean :D

Jesus I mean sure - it's a movie but REALLY ??

Atleast I think the time wasnt bad, if it is afternoon in Istanbul then his friend in USA can be playing early morning golf right? Not sure , just guessing..
