Idiotic premise

Lightyears and lightyears away they are longing for effin' Christmas. Sure.

reply

Yup.

reply

Jesus was an alien. How else could he walk on water?

reply

Fuck off, I loved it! Very silly, funny, and weird, which is just what I like.

reply

Yeah, I know it wasn't made for the smarter audience.

reply

A sense of humor is a sign of genuine intelligence and a broad mind.

An absent sense of humor combined with a belief in one's own intellectual superiority is the sign of a none-too-bright internet troll.

reply

It's supposed to be light fun Christmas time tv, asshole

reply

I didn't like it much. Thought it was pretty dumb, even in the context of what it was meant as. Which is ultimately: a primer/teaser for GG3. Glad Bacon got to pimp his music. Whatever. Classic Marvel BS. Mantis and Starlord are siblings and we have to watch this to know about it? One shot tie-in horse shit.

reply

Yes the only human there longs for christmas and his friends provide it for him.

Oh the horror. How awful of them.

Bet you you are fun to be around.

reply

I thought it was meant to be intentionally bad, to mirror the Star Wars infamous holiday special.

That's how it came a across to me.

reply

Millions of civilizations between them and us, half of them with smarter religions, the other half with funnier holidays. And the only one thing you can imagine is a shitty party where you can once a year pretend to love each other? Yeah, must also be fun to be around you...

reply

What is that even about.

Peter Quill is from America on Earth who celebrate Christmas. What anyone else does is completely irrelevant so not sure why you even brought it up.

The entire premise is they do him a christmas party because you know friends do nice things, well maybe not your friends.

Again the absolute horror that his friends throw him a christmas party because he is sad. How utterly terrible of them.

reply

His friends - all freaking ALIENS - throw him a xmas party, because they - all freaking ALIENS - get the xmas spirit right... I have got friends here on earth from different cultures and religions who don't even understand xmas. And that's okay for me.
But hey, feel free to enjoy this really absolutely idiotic premise.

reply

I know non-Christians from India who love Christmas and celebrate it every year. When I lived in South Korea, it was a big fun dating holiday. Lots of people do Christmas regardless of being from America and you certainly don’t have to be a religious person to enjoy it.

That said, while Quill’s friends are aliens, there’s no reason why they wouldn't want to do something nice for him.

reply

non-Christians from India who love Christmas and celebrate it every year

Means, they participate in this comsumer shite? Yeah, well, not xmas for me...

reply

Christmas is mostly about consumer shit. That’s why a lot of people celebrate it who aren’t religious/Christians. Is this news to you?

reply

It sounds like you're unhappy with your life, friends, family. That's unfortunate, and I'm sorry you have bad Christmas memories, but for most of us it's a time to be with the people we do love, show our appreciation for one another, take stock of life, and generally prepare to start another go 'round on the planet.

reply

it's a time to be with the people we do love, show our appreciation for one another

And that has to be at some days in December? And - beware - ONLY at these days! I am sure we are talking about different things...
And no, thanks, I AM happy. But just with other things in mind.

reply

No, it doesn't have to be only those days, but that's the time of year everyone has time off from work or school, and families traditionally gather together. It can happen at any time as well, but Christmas is the reason it always happens at THAT time.

reply

No offense, but your posts on this thread are just sad to read.
You should rethink your life.

reply

No offense, but ever considered to look beyond the rim of your tiny little teacup?

reply

It was a perfectly good premise. They learned about a tradition from earth from their earthling friend.
