Their Spanish is awful

Nah... sorry mate... My Dad was a missionary in Paraguay long ago and I have met others from both Central and South America. Their Spanish is not NEARLY as inflected as the Mexican Spanish here (I live in Southern California about 30 miles North of San Diego) The Spanish here my Dad said that he can barely understand it because of the rapidity and heavy inflection which almost always makes them sound like they are excitedly asking a question. The Spanish from South America he loves to hear, and as a matter of fact he complimented one lady in a restaurant one time because her Spanish was so smooth and uninflected, spoken at a moderate tone and pace. He asked her where she was from because he felt that her Spanish was so much easier to understand than what we normally hear around us. I think she was from either Central or South America.

You are probably just used to the way you and the ones around you speak it. But, and this is just personal taste of course, to my lowly American ears, the Spanish from other areas almost always comes across more smoothly and easier to understand (I speak a little)

Yes, I could tell the Spanish was unlike what I was used to learning "Spain" Spanish in public schools or the Mexican Spanish I heard on the streets - but you've got to remember, this is Argentina - their dialect is different.

I'm used to NEUTRAL mexican, used by mexican voice actors, but the mexican slang is awful.

And by Columbian you meant Colombian? I can't understand them well, they have a quite strange slang. And my country is recently full of colombians.

I'm born and raised in Chile, we have our bad habits regarding our way of speaking too, but when it's needed, we can speak neutral spanish too.

Their spanish is not awful, it's just that you are not used to Southamerican spanish. (I'm glad there's almost no "che").

It's not awful. It's different. Each country has a different accent and you need to accept/respect them all.

Argentineans have a lot of slangs, and yes it may be difficult to understand sometimes, but it's certainly not "awful".

Well I personally really like their Spanish. It sounds even better to me. The "J" sound on the double "L" and on the "Y" especially. Also never had much trouble talking to them (I'm from Portugal) and the ones I met were super nice people.

Debes ser un troll, el castellano ES una lengua ESPAÑOLA y el castellano argentino no es ni mejor que el castellano mexicano, si esta es la primera vez que lo oyes has vivido bajo un puente toda tu vida, si además te costó entenderlo, eres un retardado mental, yo no soy Argentino y lo entendí a la perfección y no lo oí tan alejado del Mejicano como tú dices.
