I don't know about you, but I had a blast watching it.
Plus, I'm an IT Crowd fan, and I enjoyed Ayoade in the movie. It's a good Summer Sci-Fi/Comedy flick. The critics have rods up their butts.
Goodness gracious, this is one of the better films I've seen all year. I dont know why it's getting such negative press.

He is still an amazing actor and i love him in comedies and all the cast do a good job, you have 3 blockbusters actor, a theme fn' good and jokes that will makes you laugh and think ! This is sad to see it's not gonna do his budget but still, i have a good time and i will buy on Blu-Ray baby !!

Haha, it is funny you mention The Campaign and this movie because I had the same experience. In fact I watched The Campaign earlier today and thought it was "ehhh" I gave it a 5 and I was probably being generous. I watched The Watch just a few minutes ago and loved it and gave it an 8. It was much funnier than I expected.

sharei'm no plant, but i enjoyed this movie. if you like dodgeball you should like this one. theres too much product placement in the film, and it has some stupid moments, lots of gross-out humor but it made me laugh. i liked it better than PAUL, even if i like simon pegg and nick frost 100 times more than ben stiller and crew.
i still dont like the kid from superbad. richard ayayode is good in this, not amazing, but good.

I think Richard Ayayode is the weakest link in this movie. He is unknown to me, no I don't watch IT Crowd and not American, but I felt like somebody a bit better could have been cast. This movie was funny and an above average comedy. I wasn't disappointed by it, which is more than I can say for most movies I have had the displeasure of seeing lately.

shareThis film is absolute garbage! Considering the cast, it should have been miles better. Ben Stiller is the worst thing about this film...The jokes were just childish and really not thought about! Jonah Hill made it a touch easier to enjoy and even still he should have spat all over the script! We can all accept the fact it is a sci/fi comedy aiming to be slightly original, but it just failed. Stiller should have been labotomised after Tower Heist, along with Sandler and Eddie Murphy. Vince Vaughn also should have been the wiser. I just dont like the fact that these guys are getting old and would hate to see them take the Sandler/Murphy route...ah well, too late!

Seriously, this isn't the year of comedies, all the ones that were original, funny and some were even brutal in the dialogues bomb just like The Watch, That's my Boy, Seeking a Friend for the end of the World... There's only The Campaign and that was because mostly of Hangover success because last Will Ferrell movies were kinda boring !
people prefer superheroes, fantasy tales well they like nothing original and new just like their mcdonald they eat in the morning...

I honestly didn't check imdb before watching this movie and was surprised by the plot. The cast in this movie basically made me think I knew where it was heading then bam security guard gets mauled bloody. It wasn't exactly very funny and I agree it became silly towards the end. One of the more memorable scenes was the dialog between them deciding on how Jonah Hill was going to romance Ermey as a man in drag. The Russian nesting dolls by Vince was the other scene where I smiled. The kid throwing Vaughn through the door was a dead giveaway that he was an alien intended or otherwise. There were a couple Costco/wholesale store quips or jokes but it was very "meh" throughout the movie.
