Warrior top 250???

I value and appreciate the imbd top 250 very much. For the most part I agree with most the movies on the list, maybe not the particular order but most the movies in this list deserve to be there, and most of the movies that I think should be in there are 7.7.-7.9 which is reassuring to know that some other movies I love are that close to being there. Warrior is NOT one of these movies. It is an average movie, not bad but not amazing. This movie is a 6.8-7.5 range which is a GOOD movie. There is nothing wrong with that score a lot of great movies have scores like this, but TOP 250?????? HOW?????? Maybe I was just expecting something much better because of the rating but I don't know I was disappointed. Rocky is a very similar movie and Rocky is in every way more superior. I can't believe this movie is higher rated than Rocky. IT'S ROCKY!!!! Probably the greatest sports/underdog movie ever made. The script, the acting, the emotion, the characters in Rocky is almost perfect. I really hope this movie slides more and more down the top 250 until it is gone. I'm not trying to be a dick and bash this movie but the top 250 is sacred to film buffs, it's a great guideline for us to find new movies to watch and compare and discuss which movie is better. Warrior should never be in a conversation of this caliber. Warrior right now is close to movies like Platoon, Trainspotting, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Into the Wild on the top 250 and all of these murder Warrior in every aspect of filmaking. I hate to be a dick to loyal fans of this movie but I can't help it. If someone came up to me and told me Warrior is better than Platoon I would not trust their judgment on movies really. I don't even think this movie deserves a fair judgement for me to discuss WHY I DID NOT ENJOY THE MOVIE! It's an okay film but a pure joke for the top 250.

Agree. Way over rated, period. I gave it 6/10.

I agree! Wtf! This movie was decent and enjoyable but that's it. It was COMPLETELY unrealistic, an EX-fighter teacher decides to train for a month and suddenly is able to beat the best in the world? Riggggggght! Whatever! Also every cliche in the book was thrown in for good measure, alcoholic dad, estranged brothers blah blah blah. It wasn't terrible but the fact that it's in the top 250 is laughable.

I don't get Warrior in the 250 either. It's okay probably. I say that because it has been however long since I watched it.(Only once.)

This movie blows The Fighter way out of the water. NOT even close and I'm both a huge boxing and MMA guy. Obviously Warrior is no Rocky but its still in the top 5 movies I've seen in the last couple yrs. Great movie. Implausible, sure, but so what? Is Transformers or Avengers plausible?

I wholeheartedly agree and your suggested rating is about spot on. Most of the films on the top 250 that I feel are overrated to the point that I believe they shouldn't be on the list, linger around the bottom of it, like The Untouchables. For a film where this is, in the mid-100's, I expect something a bit special whether it be the story, script, acting, cinematography, whatever. This film is enjoyable enough, it just isn't anything special. The story and characters are very cliched. The acting is solid but not exactly powerhouse. Nothing is particularly memorable or different about it.

This movie is awesome. I rated it a 10/10. Despite the cheesy, manipulative and ridiculous nature of this film, it takes you places that you didn't think it would. I agree with most of what you have said and I honestly think that, like a lot of newer movies, it will slowly drop out of the IMDB top 250, but it would be in my personal top 250 for sure. I absolutely loved this movie and have watched it multiple times since my first viewing and I still feel the same way about it. It's undeniably good and I think it will go down as one of the better fight/sport movies of all time.

One of the top comedies of 2011. Yes, folks, it really was that bad!!

Edit: I should mention that this movie also has the typical 'Murican 'hero'. One who voluntarily signs up to slaughter his completely innocent, fellow human beings in the Middle East, North Africa and elsewhere. Yay, what a hero, GO ISRAEL. So, at least the dummy fighter is realistic. Zionbot must have voted this pile of crap so high.

yep, i just cant believe it, i had to rate it 1 out of 10 for that reason alone

So tomislav888, you're basically an IMDB crybaby and because you don't think it belongs on the top 250 you rate it a 1?

Your bottle of warm milk is almost done and I see you're out of pampers. Hmm think I'll stoop to your level and rate it a 10 to even out your 1.

Warrior in the Tpo 250 is ridiculous. Just because a movie has a certain something that might carry a little more weight in society(in this case MMA) does not automatically make it a good movie. People dare I say turn ignorant because of or just simply can't handle that truth.

What's the truth? Please tell.....

For me, this movie is emotionally moving and I see a lot of others feel the same way. It's about a family's journey to reconciliation. This movie, emotionally, is more realistic than most of the other stuff out there.

I'm a karate man, see! And a karate man bruises on the inside! They don't show their weakness.

This movie uses every cliché in the book, I'd give that. Been there, seen that. That's about the only thing I can hold against it.

See, from the get go, you know how things are going to unfold. The 2 brothers are going to duke it out in final. You know that the family man is going to win too, because he's the one who needs to. The movie is just a big setup for the final scene. You get the motivations and the underlying conflict. You get to care about the characters.

You only get to care about them if you can keep your suspension of disbelief though. I suspect all the clichés turned off a majority of the naysayers, they couldn't get to care about a story they've seen so many times. Personally, the great performance of the actors and the nice story telling managed to grab me. I couldn't find anything that would break the immersion. Yes, it's an highly unlikely story, but it's a story that could happen, even the ending.

And what an ending. Having a little brother myself, I couldn't help but shed a tear when Brandon does his final submission while telling his brother "I'm sorry. It's gonna be alright".

So even if I watched a few movies like this one, even with all the stuff I expected, it was more like watching your favorite movie for the 3rd time, when you still root for the characters even though you know how it turns out.

It's actually a pretty huge thing to hold against a movie and to most people it makes it almost worthless.

If a movie is an entire cliche, and predictable then how can it be a good movie? Only to a teenager I guess who is easily manipulated by such rubbish, but most grown ups see the movie for what it is, and that is not much.

You can have an under dog sports movie with some creativity, some twists, anything really, but this movie film has no such aspirations, it was just a cheap cheesy cynical rip off aimed at the sheep masses who lap this kind of silly nonsense up hence is laughable imdb rating.

This film was an insult. Everything was predictable and I mean everything, even the bad guy was like a cartoon character, the whole thing was just silly.

Its a sad reflection of todays society that rubbish like this rated so highly. The same reason katie perry is the worst biggest popstar with the most generic pop possible.
