Represents it's genre well

I don't see how you can be a horror fan and not like this movie. It's not perfect. but it had:

1. A good story
2. Great soundtrack
3. Good (enough) acting
4. Nice pacing

It's better than a lot of trash-ass horror movies out there.

Agreed

As a big fan of the originals I couldn't wait for this one to come out in theaters

I saw it with another long time fan and we both thought it was a hell of a fun, bloody ride

Not ALL remakes are trash...

reply

I wasn't expecting much, and it's like a modern remake/reboot and all.

But then I'm watching it, and I'm like this is fucking amazing. Great atmosphere. Great gore effects. Solid characters. Doesn't really fall into the usual traps of shitty horror films.

Glad for the reminder. I really need to do like a chart and spreadsheet of horror films I've watched over the years so I can recall them more readily when making recommendations.

I wish I had kept better notes on the really good horror movies and other genres I've watched over the years!

Sometimes a poster will request a good horror suggestion for their night at home and I'll toss out a few I recall loving but can't back it up with solid info...I
used to
keep notebooks but other real life stuff cut into all of the note-taking time lol

reply

Exactly! lol I'm a facebook group and someone was asking for recs, and now looking back, I wish I could have referenced this film to them.

Be sure to add The Descent. Also one of the better horror movies you'll watch.

reply

Oh hell yeah man. The Descent was fucking amazing. It really shows how a simply done horror film can be very compelling.

reply

The Descent is a 10/10 for me, no question.

reply

Plenty of gore.
+ Some jump scares.
+ Loud, bombastic sound mixing.
+ Short runtime with a linear plotline.

= A very entertaining horror film.

The ending showdown when it's raining blood is one of my favorite horror film endings.

reply

I love this film.
