Laverne Cox Was Brilliantly Cast.

Say what you will about her appropriateness for the role of a male transvestite, there are very few actors whose faces can match the expressiveness of Tim Curry. I'm quite impressed; she obviously loved every minute of her performance.

Laverne Cox is too pretty for the roll.

She really OWNED it. That was the only good thing about this remake.

I agree. She was great! I was impressed. I had no idea she could sing or dance so well, and let's face it, she gave the role her all! You can tell she was having fun with it!

As for those who complain that she's a woman...well, to be fair her voice does still sound masculine, so you can imagine that she's a Transvestite who has a convincing women's outfit. :)

I know a lot of people are gonna be complaining, but I think it was really good, and she was the one who really carried it.

Besides, let's face it..there IS only one Tim Curry.

She was the best part of this adaptation. I really liked the guy who played Rocky too.

Adam Lambert as Eddie was pretty good.

Yes; he and Brad were also especially well-cast.

I did find the transgender versus transvestite thing to kind of ruin it, but at the same time, Laverne agreed to it, so clearly it didn't bother her.

As for her playing Frank, I definitely felt she wasn't Tim Curry good, but she did do good as Frank. Some parts really did convince me and she definitely did enjoy the part and put her all into it and for that I respect her.

David from the London stage show also did an amazing job, too.

In all honestly, it's just hard to copy Frank. No one does it like Tim Curry did it. But, anyone willing to try and put in the effort and at least comes close to Frank, as played by Tim, definitely gets my respect.

I thought the accent was not good. It reminded me of John Travolta's failed attempt to use a Baltimore accent in Hairspray. Laverne's accent was inconsistent, and strange.

She sucked. Wrong voice, wrong loook, wrong choice. Frank n furter was man.

Epic fail in casting her.

I didn't have a problem with Laverne's acting/singing (though topping Tim Curry is nearly impossible). What DID bug me was them outright calling Frank she/her (at the end Brad: you're going to kill her? What's her crime?). Even in stage productions where Frank is *played* by a woman, the character is still male. Making the character female in the remake sort of really misses the point of Frank. I wouldn't have complained at all if they'd let Laverne play Frank and then kept it that Frank was a feminine-looking man. The really funny thing is that they kept the original lyrics to Sweet Transvestite "I'm not much of a man by the light of day", but then used female pronouns for Frank >_>

That also took a lot out of the Janet and Brad seduction scenes.

She clearly understood that she's not going to match what Tim did so went in a different direction, which worked. She had fun, owned every second she could and just threw her all into it... it sucks that she had a cast full of dead weight to work off of, she was doing all the heavy lifting
