Has anyone read the book?

If so, what were your thoughts? I'm 180 pages in and the writing style is throwing me off. Like it can't decide whether to stick with L. Frank Baum's 20th century style or a more modern take so it flits between the two every other page. The pacing isn't the best either, but I'm trying to stay with it.

I think the better question to ask on this website is: Has anyone ever read "A" book?! ;)

No. When I read up on what was in it, I was horrified and disgusted. People have said it reads like a soft porn, and is way nastier than what you see on broadway. In fact, the writers on Broadway had to clean it up so it could be seen on stage by families. Either way, I refused to read it.

I haven't gotten to any graphic sex (or sexual assault) scenes yet, but I heard something about a "tiger" scene that's particularly controversial.

There's a lot of other stuff that isn't suitable for kids to read in that book. It's one of many reasons I had issues with it, and chose not to read.
