Elphaba, a misunderstood young woman because of her green skin, and Glinda, a popular girl, become friends

OH FUCK OFF ALREADY......... 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♀️

reply

It’s the era of taking classic villains and making them “misunderstood” instead if evil.

reply

Yes, and it is fucking lame.

reply

I completely agree.

The Wicked Witch is evil as hell and wants to kill Dorothy for her ruby slippers. She’s not “misunderstood”, haha.

reply

looking forward to the next star wars movie..... where we learn that Darth Vader and the emperor are just misunderstood.

reply

Yep, pretty much and this is why I feel this is not going to do well at the box office and that the box office guru's are way overinflating this movies numbers for their own good, sort of like the 2024 Election

reply

There were multiple elections in 2024.

reply

He (or she) was obviously talking about the election in Nauru, Micronesia.

reply

Of course, that should have gone without saying.

reply

One thing I really didn't like about the play is it really tries to hammer you over the head about the whole thing is a metaphor for racism.

reply

everyone know that is what they are going for, with the: a misunderstood young woman because of her skin

reply

They really are going to drive it into the ground in this adaptation. They've already tweaked the play to make it seem allude more to Trump and the GOP. I really just how revisionist the whole story is. There was no reason the author of the book needed to take a story as old as OZ and rewrite it will all this shit.

reply

indeed........ and why is the green person played by a black?
why not an asian, to mix it up a bit.

reply

Diversity for diversity sake. They've race swapped the two lead roles.

reply

In "The Wizard of Oz" (1939 movie), I thought I and other people disliked the Wicked Witch because she was wicked. I never paid much attention to the fact she had green skin, or cared. I guess I was unconsciously making the mistake of following the philosophy of MLK, but we're not supposed to think like that anymore.

reply

I sympathize with the witch in the original. Dorothy did just kill sister.

reply

The witch didn’t care about her sister.

Just the ruby slippers.

reply

Somebody explained the book to me for an hour but your topic heading is the entire story. I always assumed it must be amazing because of the popularity of the musical but nah.

reply

The songs are what made it popular. I’ve seen it on and off Broadway and it’s a largely forgettable story. But there are some bangers musically.

Hopefully they don’t get all soulful and note-y with them in the film.

reply

remember, this is the same generation that made tiktoks about how osama bin laden was actually a saint. lol

reply

he did have some killer dance moves

reply

i figured green skin wouldn't be that big of a deal with talking scarecrows and tinmen running around the land

reply

right..... a talking scarecrow.
people might also misunderstand that.

and where does a scarecrow go to get help?

reply

Right? Can't wait for the toxic woke trend to die completely. Might take awhile but people are already turning away.
