The most painfully average movie I've seen in a while
It's not particularly bad, it's just so predictable and generic. I saw it last night and honestly I will have probably forgotten about it by this afternoon.

shareI thought it was missing the humor and comradery the first movie had with the Tornado chasing crew.
shareIt's nowhere near as good as the first film but I still enjoyed it fairly well as a summer popcorn movie.
It was very nice that it was at least largely devoid of woke nonsense and just felt like an old fashioned fun movie.
The director even came out and said directly that he didn't want to make a preachy film:

Just got back. Wasn't great! Definitely didn't suck. They certainly checked most of the Twister boxes. But there was two big elements sorely lacking. 1, despite having a big group of interesting characters performed by engaging actors, we spend almost no time with these people. 2, it didn't have any sense of adventure like the first movie had. It didn't have that roller coaster feel. Just a series of big action scenes with no kinetic thread tying it all together. But i quite liked it regardless.
shareThis movie didn't have Phillip Seymour Hoffman RIP.
shareYou are right. The pacing was off in this movie, and I think a lot of it has to do with the soundtrack. The original movie had a score that played during the ride scenes. This one played some weird, dreary, songs with vocals.
Javier annoyed me. Almost any other actor in this movie could have played a more interesting side character. He was so boring and empty that it made me wonder how the hell he became an actor.
The two main characters were solid picks. I think Glenn Powell made this movie. It would have been a Direct-to-VHS sort of film if he wasn't in it. It was refreshing to see a machismo character in film again, and play the "good guy".
Everything was so forced. It was the perfect opportunity to make a great summer flick and failed miserably.
shareidk, to me I didn't think it really needed to do much and it could have been better. The tornado scenes especially I felt could have really tried for more memorable imagery. But the special effects were fantastic and I liked the characters- Powell and Edgar Jones both are fine leads. I've seen some real mediocrity this summer. This is slightly above that.
If anyone's interested, I reviewed the movie on my youtube channel. Appreciate any feedback. Trying to improve -

It's down to 6.8 on IMDB. I think it's much worse than that, but some people apparently were impressed by the special effects. Glen Powell is a star?
shareIts kind of how i feel about it. I don't think i would watch it again. The original on the other hand is a completely different story.
