Early reviews describe a very fun, very well made, but also very stupid movie.

Some early reviews from premieres have all garnered pretty similar reactions; it's a fun movie and very well made, but also light on realism and story.

Lynne Loves Movies - "'Twisters' is a blast!!!...I thought to myself: No way they can top the original 'Twister,' like it did in 96, but they really did by focusing on the actual power of the storms themselves and not the spectacle. They really put us in there far more than the original and it’s the power and destruction of the tornado that is the villain. The sound is awesome. I bet they’ll get recognition for sound editing. I’m not too crazy about the romance they hint at between Kate and Tyler and thankfully they don’t focus on that because the chemistry between the two leads seemed lackluster but since they were mostly about storm chasing it didn’t distract from my absolute enjoyment of the movie. I thought Glen Powell did a great job as the Storm Wrangler. He has the same motley crew of storm chasing characters vs the corporate crews that exist in “Twisters,” but they don’t build on that too much - thank goodness. Its about those monstrous tornadoes. It’s a VERY thrilling ride for sure. On par with the cinema experience of Dune Part 2."

Kyle Roberts of Dallas News - "In response to someone asking 'how was it?' very entertaining! Not really realistic but it’s a fun watch! And then in response to someone asking 'Is it less realistic than the first one???' HAHA well…from a storm-chasing and safety standpoint? Absolutely. And I thought that would be impossible to do, but theres no doubt this ones the dumber of the two. But on the effects and sound design? It's the best this year since Dune 2, maybe better"

Meteorologist Mariel Ruiz - "The original 'Twister' solidified my love for meteorology. I think 'Twisters' will inspire the next generation of meteorologists/scientists/so much more. A must-see this summer! It was a pleasure getting to chat with and introduce moviegoers to Daisy Edgar-Jones before the screening. She did an incredible job taking on the role of Kate, a meteorologist changing the name of the game. I thought Hollywood would botch what stormchasing really is she was spot on with her performance."

Meteorologist Jeanette Gallardo - "Had the cool opportunity to attend a screening of 'Twisters'... and I gotta say... it was pretty great. I will definitely be watching this one over and over in theaters. It's a heartstopper made solely for big screens. It wont be the same on streaming"

- "It’s good, nothing spectacular, just enough to make it a memorable summer movie blockbuster. There’s the action-heavy first few minutes, the middle portion is fairly grounded and then there’s the action-packed finale. Two good leads and some funny comedic relief characters. Some connections to the original but very fleeting. It’s basically what you’d expect, but not bad at all."

"I mean, it's not a revolutionary movie by any means, but it is FUN. I was very skeptical, even though Minari was on my top ten list a few years back. It's no Minari, lol, but you can tell it's made by a great visual filmmaker. It's an old school, throwback blockbuster, that works. Similar to Dune 2 in a lot of ways, like the overall theatergoing experience, top-line CGI, and it utilizes a solid cast that could very much be the next generation of movie stars. I would say it's on par with what the first Twister was in 1996, I saw that one in cinemas too. The story and character arcs were expected, but the actors really sell it. I haven't been in the “Glen Powell is the next movie star camp” until this film. Haven't seen Hitman yet. Always found him a bit cheesy, but he's great in this film. The one person who was the weak spot for me was next Superman [David Corenswet]. He was fine, but stuck with a bit of the boring dork, semi antagonist role. Just didn't show a lot of charisma. He's supposed to be Superman? I guess I'm worried a bit because he was easily the film's weakest spot. Honestly, I could see this movie being HUGE. Kind of plays in that Top Gun 2 space of just being a blockbuster that is fun and works. Could see this be #3 for the summer, if they do the marketing well and the reviews are as positive as mine. People around me were cheering and everyone seemed to mark it at least a “Very Good”.

"It's the definition of a 7/10. I honestly had little faith in it, but came out pleasantly surprised. I laughed at the jokes, even got goosebumps a few times, it's nearly horrifying at times. I can't defend much of the story, the writing, etc. But it's a film that was made for the big screen. Very good cinematography and CGI, great camera angles showing the monstrous scale of the tornadoes, lots of cool ideas from very talented filmmakers but not much of that is in the script. They made the tornadoes less fun and more terrifying, but with eye-rolling realism. Very much like the OG Twister, dumb stupid well made, I'd say better because of the tornadoes themselves."

"Stupid" seems harsh. They movie seems to take liberties with realism, which is fine. The original did so as well. A realistic tornado wouldn't draw people looking for an explosive action thriller

Sounds like a throwback to '90s disaster movies to the letter.

I don't know what movie they watched. I was able to watch it early (not saying how), and it was a waste of time. I didn't care about any of the characters, it was boring, VERY slow paced, the tornado chasing wasn't all that exciting mainly because you don't give a crap about the characters, and there was no plot. First half is a bunch of tornado chasing for just because reasons and so the supposed "bad" tornado chasers can do dumb stuff like driving into the tornado and shooting off fireworks to get followers/subscribers on YouTube/social media, and then the second half is pretty much trying to get the main girls device to work or something (I gave up on trying to figure out the plot an hour in and was just watching the rest of the movie to say I watched the movie), plus a town trying to survive a tornado. Plus the main girl, her friend, and the YouTube/social media tornado chasers trying to get everyone into the town's movie theater to survive the tornado (the movie theater gets destroyed, but a lot of people still manage to survive). Oh and then there is some kind of love triangle between the main girl, her friend, and the leader of the YouTube/social media team. But the movie sucked. I think this movie was just made to make me appreciate the first Twister movie more. I don't care for the first Twister movie just because of the whole divorce thing and Bill Paxton's fiancée. I hated the fiancée. Most annoying character of the movie. If they got rid of that whole thing, I would like Twister even more. But watching the new movie, I was wishing I was sitting through the divorce/fiancée stuff. At least there is some fun hating on that. But there is no fun hating anything in the new movie. At least I liked some of the characters in the first movie. Oh and then there is the steak and eggs scene. Nothing like that in the new movie. So yeah. Not sure what movie they watched/reviewed. The movie I watched was god awful.

You watched a videocam version of the movie from one of the piracy websites. You didn’t get the right experience , which affected your opinion of the film

The original was silly and light on story too but fun to watch. Not sure if I care to watch this one as the original still holds up.

I thought this was better than the original. Like the original, this is light on story, but it's a fun movie and the storm scenes are great.

I actually wouldn't call it stupid at all. Sure the plot is kinda goofy but the special effects and character work is actually quite good.

If anyone's interested, I reviewed the movie on my youtube channel. Appreciate any feedback. Trying to improve -https://youtu.be/5zZbDSgfmsU
