It’s not gonna be Clark Kent.

But WB/DC Is this really that surprising They constantly are rebooting their properties whenever it gets a little tough instead of sticking it out like marvel

reply

Correct, I think it's gonna be Calvin Ellis. But here's a thought. Why not make an ICON movie instead of just using Calvin Ellis?

reply

DC just throws any shit to the wall to see what sticks.

And they were doing so well the last few years too after they canned Tsujihara. What happened?

Will not watch it anymore than i would watch a white Shaft movie. They want a black superhero then show some originality and create a black superhero. That would impress me and make me want to watch.Lazy woke shoehorning just turns me off.

This looks like it has a lot of potential

Are you still.pretending to care about black people? You only started pretending about the same time flloyd got killed.

reply

As my college professor says, they are votes for our progressive cause

reply

You have no college professor, you don't go to college.

Since I realized you are a performance artist, I find your posts hilarious.

Reading the story it looks like this is going to be an Else-World story. Has DC had much luck with those?

reply

Another lame tokenization. Pass!

reply

That's fine as long as they don't call him Clark Kent. They should do Val Zod, Calvin Ellis seems like a dumb character created solely for political propaganda.

We already got a black Superman - Hancock. He got drunk, destroyed public property and beat his woman.

How about the stupid assholes in WB just give us a MoS 2 with Henry Cavill and an OP alien villain like Brainiac?

We already got a "MOS 2". At least, that's what the MOS fanboys were claiming back when Batfleck v. Pseudoman was released. "If MOS failed, how comes its getting a SEQUEL? You haters have lost!! BWAHAHAHA!" Now they've flip flopped 180o degrees and admitted Batfleck v. Pseudoman was not a "sequel" to MOS and MOS still hasn't gotten one (yes, you guys are realizing that WB putting MOS 2 on "indefinite hold" is a nice way of saying CANCELLED)

MOS fanboys cheered on WB endlessly recycling Lex Luthor and General Zod as their baddies in EVERY Superman movie for 30+ years, now you act shocked and frustrated they won't bother to try a new villain like Brainiac. Sorry, MOS fanboys made this bed, you have to lay in it. You can't have it both ways.

How about the stupid assholes in WB try NEITHER "Rebooting" with "black Superman" NOR trying to revive the FAILED Synderverse, and try giving us a FUN, LIKEABLE, optimistic Superman movie instead?

Well, apparently neither you nor they will ever consider THAT opinion. Thankfully now the CW has with Superman & Lois!

Think you have me confused with someone else, man. I'm not a HUGE fan of ZS, but I did enjoy MoS and think it was pretty good, a couple of things notwithstanding. I'm not one of the guys who "cheered on WB endlessly recycling Lex Luthor and General Zod as their baddies in EVERY Superman movie for 30+ years" (dunno where you got that from).

BvS also had a lot of problems and the only redeeming thing was the BvS fight and a couple of other things like the Batman solo fight while saving Martha. I thought it had a ton of mistakes, same as JL. WB did take into account the fans complaining about Superman being too dark in MoS and BvS, so they lightened up the mood for JL and made Superman less dark, which was a step in the right direction.

I agree with you about making a lighter and more optimistic movie / portrayal of Superman, who is supposed to be an icon of hope. I think they can do it with Henry Cavill easy. A black superman is simply revolting for me right now, only because I'm sick of Hollyweird changing every white male SH character into a woman or black / colored, simply because it panders to the small and vocal SJW community, who aren't the majority who actually watch the movies and put money into the producers' pockets (I'm not white BTW).

A MoS sequel with Henry Cavill battling an OP alien villain is all I want. I don't care if Lex Luthor has a smaller role and some members of the JL pop up for cameos, but the movie needs to focus on Superman and also show him do things like rescues and give people hope (think the plane scene from Superman returns, which was awesome). I think that will be much more appreciated by the real fans of the character, rather than a PC pandering move like making him black.

Superman is a great character who is only limited by the imagination and competency of the writers. Yes, he's too powerful, but that can be a good thing as long as there's an equally powerful or even more powerful villain to face.

reply

Henry Cavill's Superman has been through a lot. He had to commit murder to stop Zod from destroying mankind, got beaten by a human (Batman in BvS), died in the same movie and then got resurrected in the following one to face a threat he alone could stop.

That gives him ample excuse to talk about how he is no more dark & angry, doesn't sweat the small stuff anymore and needs to be a beacon of hope for humanity, which is equally or perhaps, more important than physically rescuing people from various dangers. A competent writer can easily incorporate that stuff into dialogue with say, Lois Lane or his mother or Batman and then show him as a lighter, fun and likeable version.

That's just me wishing to high heaven what I'd like to see. Preparing myself for a disappointment anyway, lol.
