Josh Peck ruins movie

This movie would have been so much better without this mumbling hack. I've seen better canine actors than this kid! He is one of the worst actors of all time. He is the definition of "wooden acting".
The only emotion he is able to display is his ill-timed smirk, which he wears throughout the movie. His dialogue is unintelligible, as he is only capable of mumbling his lines.
I can't believe they had a great actor like Josh Hutcherson in a supporting role, instead of the lead.
Chris Hemsworth is excellent as usual, and without him the movie would be
completely unwatchable.
There are plenty of talented young actors in Hollywood that could have been cast instead of this Peck kid.
This is an opportunity wasted.

I thought it's something wrong with me, but I guess most people have same impression of his "acting" skills in this movie.
Josh Hutcherson should get the part - not only he is more talented but also he could be younger brother of Chris... except the American football part ;) maybe they could also change sport to soccer? ;)

Casting director sucked epically on this movie.

Yup, Hutcherson looked more like Hemsoworth's brother than Peck. Peck was awful.

Thought josh peck was decent in the film but doesn't look anything like chris hemsworth.

This was the first thing I thought of.. That the guy playing the younger brother was so bad, and the guy from the Hunger Games was pretty good.. They don't even redo the cool scene when they raid the outdoor store. For those who have not seen it, watch the old one instead, at least don't pay to see it..

totally agree with you.
peck was terrible, he looked like he was stoned thru the whole production not to mention his "speach".

and yeah when chris died i cried manly tears a little that this movie now sucks:D

i dont get the hate hes a 17 yo popular kid hes supposed to be a whiney goofy kid. its like people expect matt to kill people with his bare hands and then p!ss on the dead bodies.

There are plenty of great actors that are 17 years old, and don't stumble through a movie with the same clueless expression! I was expecting him to drool at any moment!

josh peck *beep* sucked...someone get that kid some sunglasses so he stops squinting all the time, wtf is up with that? I don't understand why they couldn't get someone else to play the younger brother...hell chris's younger brother would have been better in my opinion...have no idea wtf they were thinking when they cast him in that role, maybe if he had a minor role than whatever but not as matt...i would rather josh h. play the younger brother

I am in complete agreement, Josh would've been much more suited as the younger brother. Hell, Chris Rock has more resemblance to Hemsworth than this Peck fool....I've seen more expressions on an Easter Island head. Did the Casting Director owe Peck a favour or something? His 'performance' detracted from the whole movie and I found myself shaking my head everytime he appeared on screen.

I think he was miscast but he isn't as horrible an actor as some of you seem to think. But he would have been better as the young friend of connor cruise in a supporting role. So basically Josh hutcherson is a better actor and looks more like Chris Hemsworth and it would have slightly improved the film if the roles had been reversed BUT....... overall this movie was so implausible and just absurd. Corny dialogue, unrealistic scenarios and some weak actors making a too large cast.

Just watched "Tomorrow, When the War Began" a few days before this and it was much better and more believable....but still had some similar shortcomings.

Self-Respect and a hymen are better than friends and fun. Love, Mom-Amy, The Big Bang Theory

It's a shame there's not another actor out there that was about 19/20 at the time of making this, looks more like Chris and could have played his younger brother, what a minute..........Liam!

I agree a better actor in the lead would have helped but couldn't have saved it totally. Josh Peck's portrayal made me really dislike the character, and certainly not care about the ending.

To be honest I thought both movies were equally stupid.

I agree that it was better paced and at least had a far better setup than this Red Dawn remake, but the characterization, teen drama subplots and the dopey military invaders made me roll my eyes so many times it made the Earth jealous with all the circular rotations happening within such a short period of time.

I thought the action sequences (still fairly stupid) were directed better in Red Dawn (2012), but I thought the scenarios and invasion was depicted a lot more realistic in Tomorrow, When The War Began.

Still, both movies were pretty stupid and makes me respect the original Red Dawn that much more.
