Josh Peck ruins movie

This movie would have been so much better without this mumbling hack. I've seen better canine actors than this kid! He is one of the worst actors of all time. He is the definition of "wooden acting".
The only emotion he is able to display is his ill-timed smirk, which he wears throughout the movie. His dialogue is unintelligible, as he is only capable of mumbling his lines.
I can't believe they had a great actor like Josh Hutcherson in a supporting role, instead of the lead.
Chris Hemsworth is excellent as usual, and without him the movie would be
completely unwatchable.
There are plenty of talented young actors in Hollywood that could have been cast instead of this Peck kid.
This is an opportunity wasted.

Just watched on netflix and concur.. Not only can't he act, who thought he and Hemsworth could be brothers? Nordic European with a cheap copy of David Krumholtz as his younger brother?

I won't blame the plot/script on him but he was distracting as heck.

reply

Lol the whole movie all me and my friends could talk about how there was no way these 2 were related

reply

He's adopted? Wouldn't be the first time for Chris.

"a cheap copy of David Krumholtz"

You hit the nail on the head with that one. I can't think of a better way to describe this kid.

While I don't agree with all that you wrote, I came here to say the same thing. Very poor casting. The film would have been much better with an unknown *actor* in that role. He continually brought me (OK kept me) out of the narrative...he was a distraction...and that's enough to ruin the movie.

If you're going to remake a "classic", you have to do better than this. So sad.

reply

Regardless of how much weight he loses he will always be that fat little boy who was drakes side kick.

reply

He's hot though, I watched it cause he was in the movie!!!

reply

Well no one said you are smart, I'm sure.

reply

I agree!! just watch it last night and the movie was good and everything but josh peck role drove me crazy. he was so annoying and whiny, plus i noticed at the end that his eyes are always squinting which also drove me nuts. they could have done alot better at casting that role and the ending... it didnt really show what damage taking that computer thing away did to the innovators.

reply

He was awful, but the script, plot, and other characters were already awful on their own, it wouldn't have been any better with a different actor as Matt.

reply

Right. Only the Pentagon can make a remake so much worse than the original garbage.

Watched it streaming on Netflix. Wanted to hate it, and though some elements went down better than I anticipated, Josh Peck made it easy to dislike.

Just started watching it now on Netflix. First thing I said was "That kid from that children's show is ruining this movie."

I was trying to figure out why Little Nicky was in this movie and how his voice changed

He was cringe-worthy. Terrible casting for his role.
