I wonder how the Scottish felt about this movie

I mean, I'm always curious when a popular film portrays people in another [real] country, and this one is no exception.

Update: well whataya know, they loved it! :)

It's popular here, especially with the younger generations.

It's good we got an animated film to add to Braveheart ie films that showcase the more positive aspects of the country, as opposed to stuff like Trainspotting haha.

I heard they loved the "Outlander" series too :D They were more than happy to have parts of the show filmed on location and bring in extras from the local areas.

Bet they laughed when they saw "How to Train Your Dragon" and all the viking characters had Scottish brogues, hehehehehehe.

I actually agree with them on something; we really should have the Olympics in Scotland at some point. I mean, it hasn't been done yet, you've got plenty of open space to have a stadium and camps set up (or make use of one of the cities), and the location could be good for either winter or summer Olympics.

reply

Haven't seen Outlander, but holding an Olympics in Scotland would be at England's discretion and they'd give us fuck all. They own us and would take just take another Olympics for themselves haha.

reply

That would explain why London has been used as a location several times, while Edinburgh (or some other suitable city in Scotland) has been ignored.

reply

That's true. Scotland is basically northern england. William Wallace fought for Scotland's independence from England and won it, so what you see in Braveheart is true, then for some reason they gave it back to them again. It's a country with a great history and culture, but no pride in itself like what you Americans have.

reply

then they gave it back to them again again in that referendum a few years back.

reply

Don't believe everything you hear from whiny, spoiled idiots online. Most Americans are proud of our country. Many of the smart ones don't use the internet or social media to whine about how life isn't fair or point out all our own country's faults.

Also keep in mind that the Olympics Committee is not much different from the Nobel Prize Committee or the Academy over in Hollyweird. It's basically a club of overpaid idiots that are in a very exclusive little clique and they get to choose where the Olympics are held every 2 years. There is no voting or consensus from us peasants out in the world. I sincerely doubt there's a Scottish representative in that little club, so of course that country would get ignored, while places like London get used over and over again.

reply

Sorry I meant Scotland doesn't have the pride in itself that you Americans have haha. No one loves their country more than Americans, it's great to see. I wish my country was like that.

Even our neighbors Ireland celebrate their war of independence from England and they have St. Paddys day. In Scotland we have St. Andrews day (our equivalent of St Paddys day) and no one gives a fuck about it haha.

I sincerely doubt there's a Scottish representative in that little club, so of course that country would get ignored, while places like London get used over and over again.

That's right. London makes all our decisions. Scotland is a cash cow thanks to their oil reserves, that's why the English have always opposed our independence.

Well, at least you guys have fans in the States.
