We wish they'd leave out the rated-R content......
.... in almost ALL movies. The rated-R gunge usually isn't worthwhile, limits the shows audience, and does no good long term.

Thank God the Nazis did;t win. People like you would be censoring everything. You should join ISIS, they like to curtail freedom also.
shareI agree that there are movies where language can be unnecessary and over the top for the topic/genre/plot/etc. This film, however, was not an example of that!
You write for your intended audience.
This film is very realistic for a portrayal of two friends on an adventure. And the language used is on par with real life (if not scaled back). In fact IS based on real events
I have never once in my 31 years swore in front of my Grandparents (I would get a clip around the ear). I don't swear in work, an I have an extensive vocabulary that I like to use. That said, I can't remember a day where i haven't referred to one of my close friends as a *beep*

If you can't do something smart,do something right
I tend to agree with the o/p. I enjoyed the film and found none of it offensive, especially the language which seemed normal. I could however see how a drunk girl giving her boyfriend fellatio whilst driving a car dangerously could seem suitable for grown ups only - which few have commented on?
shareWho do you think most movie goers are? Adults. Why not make a movie for adults instead of all these PG13 crap made for kids. Did you see Terminator Genisys? Ruined because they wanted it PG13, instead of R.
Sad to see that R movies bother you, I bet you're all over Disney films. Probably have a whole collection of it.
State champ in martial arts, trained with firearms, I eFF'n dare you!
You compare Terminator, an aggressive and hostile themed action movie, with cyborgs, with this movie of two old men going on a trail? In one you'd expect r-rated stuff. Now which one is it? ^^This movie here is rated 0 in my country. Even 6 year olds can watch it alone if they want, but why would they want to watch it.Genisys is rated 12 at mine.Something's wrong with the rating system of the US in this case. ---Lincoln Lee: I lost a partner.Peter Bishop: I lost a universe!
shareHello Everyone... If OP stands for original post person, then that's me. I came across all of your responses today, had a good time reading your opinions, and thought I'd add a few more thoughts of my own. (Ha, just finished typing and my response ended up being a lot longer than planned and makes me sound a bit dull. I'm not.)
First of all, my appreciation for clean stories has nothing to do with God and I can't stand the Disney Channel; sorry to those who think there are only two camps. And secondly, you can "damn my ass to hell" all you want, I won't get offended by those words, I actually like them, I'm just not a fan of language that refers to crap or abusive sex (especially when you add in mothers), whether it's on film or in real-life. Some of us still have imaginations and "see" what we hear and some words and imagery gets old fast and is annoying, just as walking where dog crap hasn't been cleared or being near someone who belches or gasses up the place non-stop gets annoying. So, it would be AWESOME if we had the option of enjoying stories w/o the droppings.
More people than the film-industry realizes find humor in wittiness rather than bathroom jokes, so if they're in the business of making money, they'd be wise to cater to us too. It's a shame that all of the hard-work put into a film doesn't reap as many benefits as it could because the film isn't palatable to all audiences. Yes, there are movies where the gritty content fits in, but they are few and far between and much of the time the gunge (yes, I used that word again) is not necessary. We love stories and we love watching them, just give us options so that we can purchase the version that works for us. They already put out the unrated versions of movies, we'd love to have the option of choosing/buying/supporting the edited versions.
As for the terms "adult", "mature", "colorful", and the like, most of what we use these labels for is anything but mature or grown-up or even colorful. It's usually immature, bland, and demeaning. Our rating system is of little help. The PG-13s including f-bombs drives me nuts. BUT THAT'S JUST ME AND WE'RE ALL DIFFERENT. Again, I'd love to see edited versions of movies made more available, so that those of us who prefer clean could enjoy the stories too.
Another comment about vocabulary.. More and more often the myriad words available to the English speaking world get covered up by a handful of over-used words; not just foul words, but words such as "stuff" and "things", which makes a story monotonous and less interesting. Let's put some real color back into our language by being more specific; having more variety.
As for sex in film, it usually makes watching the show extremely uncomfortable depending on who you're with. I liked when sex was left to the imagination, that way, no matter who's in the room, each of us could imagine what we liked and no one was the wiser. As for being prudish, two of my favorite movies ended up rated-R just because of men skinny dipping and the other has a boob flash. Sad that our rating system had to slap an R on these fab films.
The world is learning the round-about way that clean food, clean bodies, a clean Earth, clean air ... are all better for us and make us happier, I think it will eventually figure out that clean language is too. Those of us who are choosing to live in this fresh, broad-minded air are loving it and having great fun. Give it a try.
Speak for yourself, Mr. Gunge.
If I wanted to see material suited only for children, I'd watch Saturday morning cartoons.
"R-rated" content makes the characters seem more realistic.
