will there ever be another film version of dune

by someone else, do you think?

reply

How many versions do we need?

reply

I hope not because no one gets it right!

Although the Spice diver edit was quite good.

Sure. There's always gonna be some indie film-making Dune fan that will eventually come along to make a new version. If we're lucky, someday someone will come along and make a good tv show (using the format of GOT) as well as high-level production values, and finally make the Dune story we've been wanting to see all along. AI will probably make it happen eventually. We might even get some of the best traits of the past 3 film attempts; including actors that actually look and behave like their characters, better accuracy to the books, good internal exposition, and no frickin' modern-day politics shoved in!

I agree that the future will be more and more AI-generated content, including feature films. I bet before a new movie comes out and gets a wide release with the title "Dune", we'll already be in a world where everyone can type in (or dictate) what kind of movie they want to watch and AI will generate it it for them on an individual and instantaneous basis. It'll probably coincide with us living in a pod and eating ze bugs, distracting ourselves with AI-generated content and VR for the rest of our days. My assumption is that this eventuality is 10-15 years away, unless we have some sort of Butlerian Jihad in the meantime.

reply

Let’s hope not.

Three boring adaptations is enough.

Dune part 1 & 2 were wreteched. Timothée Chalamet's acting was wooden and unconvincing. The rest of the cast wasn't any better.
