You usually see this trope in one of three places:
1) soap operas,
2) Hallmark Channel movies, and
3) rock star biographies.
When it comes along (and unfortunately, it always does), just laugh and ignore it!
I've just watched this again, and I truly can't believe that ANYONE watching this over-the-top, rollicking adventure would come to the end of the movie with no other thought than, "But there's no black people!" How obsessed do you have to be to have nothing else to think about but that? People who are so rigidly locked in on a single issue need help.
At our house we've been taking care of a squirrel we call "The Old Guy" because he looks like he's been through the Squirrel Wars. He has difficulty eating and chewing, so it takes him twice as long to eat and because of his frailty, he has to fight off his younger competitors. He's hanging in there, and we always enjoy seeing him.

All MLB teams need to throw out their "special" uniforms ASAP. They are all hideously ugly and in extremely poor taste. If they have nothing to do with all the money they are making except to create ugly uniforms that will only be worn 5-6 times, why don't they lower ticket/concession prices instead?
Biden was only shoved to the front in 2020 because the DNC didn't want one of their young guns losing to Trump like Hillary did in 2016. No one was more surprised than they were that he actually won.
You're right that today's move is about "lessening the damage" and momentarily saving face. Now they will focus on 2028, portray themselves as "underdogs", and try to sweep the last 4 years under the carpet.
They will just lay low, keep quiet, and wait until the news cycle moves on to something else. Then they'll just explain everything by saying they were kept "out of the loop".
