So now that he's gay
Can we have another one with Ryan Reynolds making out with dudes?
shareWait who's gay? Reynolds or Hal Jordan?
shareThe original Green Lantern, Alan Scott, is being retconned into being gay, after being married twice and having kids:

It's funny how the Left is constantly saying thatbeing gay isn't a choice (it is) yet all their fiction is about hetero-conversion and heteros choosing to be gay after being straight for many years (e.g., Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Iceman, Batwoman, Green Lantern Catwoman, Angelica, Valkyrie, Maxima, etc.,)
Being retconned? They did that a few years ago. The day I stopped buying DC forever.
shareEh, I should have said "has been retconned". Either way, the hetero-conversion is disgusting.
shareActually he is being retconned. When they recreated the multiverse, they established that the married Alan Scott with kids and the gay Alan Scott were two different characters. Now they've decided to make the original gay as well. While still keeping the wives and kids.
shareAren't there multiple lanterns? Why not bring in a new gay lantern?
shareNew gay characters don't sell.
All media involving strictly gay characters have gutter-tier sales, engagement, and retention. Mindshare is also abysmally low among newly created LGBTQIA2S+ characters.
In essence, fans reject all the new gay characters because it's not something they want.
In order to force fans to accept these characters, they retcon existing characters and turn them gay. The results are almost universally the same, with sales diving, the characters literally only retaining mindshare among the Rainbow Reich crowd, and traditional fans moving on.
However, there is a long-game to this. Even as current and old fans disengage, newer generations will grow up in a zeitgeist where this is normalized among a wide swathe of characters across nearly every entertainment medium. The next generation of kids will only know of gay Green Lantern, and gay Batwoman, gay Iceman, gay Hulk, ad infinitum.
These will be the gold standards for superheroes, and so even if sales plummet and bomb, if all of the front-facing heroes for certain legacies brands are LGBTQIA2S+, people will have no choice but to engage.
You want prime-verse Green Lantern stories? Gotta accept the gay.
The only way that would work would be to eradicate all the comic books before the gay-ing occurred.
shareFunny you bring that up... but in some ways, that's exactly what they're doing by retroactively censoring some comics:
https://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/comments/ftic5m/censorship_marvel_censored_wolverines_cigar/
Even Superman:

I imagine as prints of older comics are out of circulation, eventually those will be made harder to find, and as more and more comics go digitally, the mainstream stuff will be the gay stuff, while you'll have to scavenge for the classic/retro material through pirate sites.
Digital comics also opens up the window to start curating what fans are allowed to read, just like how Blizzard used Warcraft III: Reforged to literally retroactively censor/alter the original Warcraft III that people had installed on their machines from 2002:

The only way around that is to gather up the original physical print releases and hold on to them for dear life.
Dear lord, instead of retconning, just make it a direct continuation and *gasp* he's bi! Even more LGBT recognition and can keep to the story. Then again comics love retconning regardless, always have, so whatever
shareWhy does the HETEROphobic Hate Group keep doing this?
shareand why the F do we 96% give a shit about what the 4% think, feel, or what? I could care less.
I don't slap my hetro dick across your face all the time, STFU about your gayness. no one cares.
(not at you Guitar King, but the overly loud 4% minority)
