All movies are looking to make as much money as possible is true but not all movies are there to only make money. If they were then there would only be a few types of films made. Even if a type of film made 300 million dollars that type would not be made again when a different type made 2 billion dollars.
Why make millions when you can make.... billions?

I loved Airplane 2. Airplane is the better film but I have probably watched the sequel more.
A complaint I heard about the sequel was that is was just the same jokes.. DUH A complaint about sequels is they just repeat the first film and what a better way to make fun of that is to just add more jokes. Plus they were great jokes too.
I actually like SW prequels and Blade Runner 2049, SW sequels (except for Rogue 1) were horrendous though.
