Sandra Bullock too old for Ryan Reynolds. Who should have been Margaret?

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but, while I enjoyed this movie, I was distracted by the 12 year age difference between Margaret and Andrew. I think Sandra Bullock is too mature, now, for these types of frivolous fluff movies. I could think of a lot of younger actresses, maybe a few years older than Ryan Reynolds, who could have done as well or better playing Margaret. Emily Blunt, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, Mila Kunis. Just a short list. Who do you think would have been a better fit?

I think the person should be older...it's more believable why she's his boss.
Plus it makes the story a little different, other then the same old "perfect couple".

My husband is 10 years younger than I am, and we have an amazing time together, great chemistry, and a beautiful son. I wasn't distracted by their age difference - in fact, I think it worked BECAUSE of the age difference. Sandra looks great and Ryan looks delicious. O.P. - get over it.

Sandra Bullock's character was SUPPOSED to be older than the assistant...that's part of what was so funny about it. It would've been a completely different movie had they been the same age...

Iuno about YOU all, but jus the thought of a young man playing twister with an older woman is a heavy reign of a turn on.

sheeeit, i wouldnt mind me an older woman...like Lana Moorer (MC Lyte), Kate Winslet, Franka Potente, Shanel Jones (Lady Luck), Robin Yvette Allen, Shawntae Harris (Da Brat!), LisaRaye, Essence Atkins, Rachel True, Mari Marrow, Monica Calhoun, Bianca Lawson, Eva Mendes, Rosario Dawson, christ people i could go ON here!!

Sandra was probably too old, but she was the right kind of old. Get me? ;) Cougar women FTW, yaherd?!

besides she is his boss - editor in chief while he's just a lowly assistant. it makes sense to the plot that she would be older. and they look great together.

I think Sandra was a perfect Margaret Tate.

she's stunning. who cares.

Too old and too fat. The role should have been played by Jennifer Anniston.

TROLL ALERT!!!

i don't think so. sandra was great and the idea of the movie was that the age between them should have been bog. i liked sandra and you know the grandma says in the end that though they don't match each-other they still love each-other. that was funny. oh and it's a long ime that i've not seen comedy like this . i loved it.

Almost without fail, I like Sandra Bullock's performances... she can do drama and comedy equally well (28 Days, for instance). But here, she's forced, and fully not believable as the maniacal bitch of a boss. Maybe she should have taken some lessons from Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, because Bullock completely misses the mark here. (and, yes, as others have mentioned, she looks too old here - probably because her age is made even more apparent by playing against Ryan Reynolds).

For someone Bullock's age to play this part, my vote goes to Julianne Moore... she could have played the queen bitch to the hilt, but still is enough of a babe to make the romantic angle believable.
