Shame on you Chris Evans...

You should've fought and advocated for your fellow actor. You know it's Tim's gig and now you're simply standing on his shoulders and the decades of work Tim did to bring Buzz to life.

reply

*shrugs* It's not the first time a different actor voiced Buzz. There was Patrick Warburton on the animated series.

reply

I don't know why Tim Allen isn't doing it, but I think Evans is an inspired choice.

reply

If they hired Warburton for this film, that would be inspired. Evans is a marketing choice.

reply

Evans is both.

reply

The fact that they didn't even cast Tim Allen in a cameo role says enough.

reply

Tim Allen is a conservative so basically a fascist in the world of Hollywood. They clearly didn't even want him back for Toy Story 4 hence the large absence of Buzz.

reply

Rumor has it that Tim can be a huge asshole in person.

So one possible reason for the change, is that Allen pissed off the wrong person.

reply

Isn't he returning for the Santa Clause TV series later this year?

reply

Apparently so but the first line in the synopsis looks like he won't be in it for long

Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can't be Santa forever.

Passing the mantel is basically what Disney did with the Star Wars sequels...

reply

Don't see the point unless Disney are planning on rebooting the Santa Clause film series with a younger actor.

reply

Agreed, but I actually would have preferred Patrick Wharburton who has also voiced Buzz. Although I don't blame Chris, its the producers/director that made this call.

This paycheck would have made a bigger difference to Patrick than it does to Chris or Tim. Plus Patrick is a better voice actor than both of the other two in my opinion.

reply

I love me some Chris Evans, big-time. But I won't be watching this. It's Tim, or nothing. Plus it's not like we get to see Chris anyway. That's the best thing about him. πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

reply

Maybe, Tim didn't want the role. He is very rich and old.

reply

tim allen sounded very old in toy story 4. his voice was very strained, cracky, definitely sounded like an old man behind the microphone. the guy is 70 now, i think it would've been distracting in a movie like this. seeing young buff buzz open his mouth and a 70 year old man voice cracks out. odd

reply

Not much different from all those "de-aged" actors whose voices they didn't make younger. Michael Douglas in Ant-Man looks 45 but sounds 71. Samuel L Jackson in Captain Marvel looks 40 but sounds 71. Also Julie Kavner as Marge Simpson is voicing a 36-year-old character but sounds like she has one foot in the grave (coincidentally she's also 71).
