I guess you've never owned a cat. Actually no one can ever really "own" a cat and that's exactly my point. Cats are noble and independet beings and you can't make them "act" or do "tricks" as you do in dogs. You can't pet a cat when you want to, you can only pet him/her when he/she wants to be pet. Try and make a movie with a cat as a lead role, I would like to see that!

Cats don't do much. They make good pets, but there are rarely times that cats do enough that will be entertaining on screen. And cats may be noble and friendly, but they also have reputations for being inherently unpredictable, aloof, and like they often don't care about people. Not true about all cats, but about many. However, you might want to check out "The Three Lives of Thomasina", "The Cat From Outer Space" and "That Darn Cat". I think there was even a small movie I liked as a child from the 80s called "Leo, the Richest Cat in the World."

I know! I have had so many cats and lots of them were selfish,it seems to be natural for them. But at least two of them were so loyal and friendly to me, as you say, as faithful as a dog. People accept that there can be love shared between a dog and a human, but not with a cat. Any such people must be "off balance" somehow.

The american version, believable or not, is needed. We need more movies about dogs. Only here in Texas, owners abandon dogs when they move, leave them locked inside the empty houses or apartments where the animals die of starvation. Owners leave their dogs tied to a tree where they die alone or eaten by other dogs, etc.
Owners drop dogs in the middle of nowhere or near freeways where they die. Animal Control won't pick them up and SPCA won't pick up strays. We need more movies about dogs to see if people finally realize that when they commit to have a pet, is a responsability greater that they think. People still do a lot of harm to animals, maybe movies like this will help some prople to think twice before killing (intentionally or unintentionally) their pets? Because Peta doesn't seem to be aware of the problem...

It's also to do the the psychology of the animal. Dogs/Wolves are very pack orientated and thus create very strong bonds between each other.

Most domesticated felines do not have that instinct and tend to be more solitary and therefore the bonds are not as strong.

Because a cat only cares about where it's next meal is coming from. If you die, your cat may care long enough to wonder who will feed it. Once the cat finds somebody else to feed it, you are a distant memory.

Remember: dog's have owners, cats have slaves.
