Ending Was Real Disappointment

Does anyone else believe Stuntman Mike's character should have remained completely cold, calm and calculating throughout the movie ?

Instead he turned into a pathetic bubbling coward ... what happened ?

In addition, I thought First Story was excellent; unfortunately dialogue in Second Half and above were downfall ( though some excellent stunt / driving when Stuntman atagonising other vehicle )

Thoughts ?

The point of him turning into a pathetic coward was to show that's what he is. He hides behind his car and runs people over and gets in car crashes for kicks.

But take him out of his comfort zone and he's a wuss.

This.

Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?

I thought it was brilliant, to have the persecuted, the bullied, the beaten, become the bullies, the persecuters, the beaters.
Stuntman Mike exposed as a pathetic little man who got off on destroying women in his power high when in reality he couldn't do *beep* The hunted become the hunters, the women become the men and they are as blood thirsty as their previous tormenter.
Excelent!

thought the ending was great. It was not AT ALL what I expected I honestly did not think that they would go after him, but when they did it was intense and entertaining as hell. I also think that having Stuntman Mike become a wimp was a really satisfying conclusion to the film. After all, he was an *beep* who murdered fragile girls with his car and enjoyed picking on the weak. But, in the end they took his chocolate milk.

You haven't seen many 70's schlock have you? Stuff like that happened all the time.

lol @ all the misogynist bitches in this thread

I loved the ending myself. I thought it was cool how the last 3 girls Stuntman Mike try to *beep* with showed him he picked the wrong girlfriends this time around. 2 stuntwomen and a pissed off make-up girl with a high kick in an equally impressive muscle car?!
They ended up showing that SM was a coward when the girls went after his wounded a**. That beat down he received at the end was EPIC IMO.
This movie made me a true QT fan.

I'm sorry for calling you Black B*tch!

I don't understand why people didn't like the girls. I thought the girls rocked and kicked some serious butt. Instead of being weak minded blubbering bimbos they took charge and went after the man who is trying to KILL them? And people are sympathizing with the KILLER and calling the VICTIMS annoying? Wow. Zoe Bell alone is fantastic...if I believed in reincarnation I'd hope to come back as that bad-ass woman! She is off the charts amazing and hot (and I'm not gay so I can say that out of pure appreciation)! And lets not forget that the women in the second half didn't really do anything wrong. The girls in the first half I felt were less sypathetic because they were teasing men, drinking, doing drugs AND driving which leads to the possibility of a horrific crash which makes sense. The second half girls did nothing more than want to joy ride in a hot car for a bit. They were victims of circumstance and they turned the tables on that circumstance. I can't believe defending yourself and refusing to be a typical female movie victim annoys people. I just don't get that.

Let me make this clear for you. There is nothing redeeming about these bitches. After abandoning one of their own to go out joy riding and leaving their friend alone with a creepy old man I hope they all died in a fiery car crash. They could have just knocked him out and tied him up for the cops instead of killing him. In the real world these bitches would be just as *beep* as he is for killing him like that at the end. I don't buy for one second that these bitches with their noodle arms would even be able to knock out someone like him. Tarantino himself even said this was his worst film ever. Hell yes they were annoying too.

Funny, Death Proof is probably my favorite Tarantino movie. :P
And I don't even usually like those ''girl power'' moments. I'm not sure what it is.

If you've heard of it, it's already too mainstream for me.

I couldn't agree with you more! I just wanted them the shut the hell up and die already, we get it these bitches can't shut up ever I was just waiting and waiting for them to die so I could cheer at the death of a pack of twats but no, they win..... its the ONLY Tarintino movie I can't stand.

reply

Agreed completely. I also agree with the people who say that they weren't rooting for the girls. I felt nothing for them, in fact I hated them. They were idiots. Kurt Russell was just too damn likable as a villain, which I normally never feel. I don't mind the girls getting one up on him, but Kurt should have won at the end. Wish there was an alternate ending.

This is one of the dumbest films I have ever seen... first half up to the death of McGowan was great.. then Tarantino had a retard moment. Dumbest ending I have ever had the misfortune of watching.

this is one of the main reasons why i just didn't like this movie. (although i did LOVE the whole grindhouse feel and stunts.)

when this film was in production, i remember reading a quote from QT about how he wanted kurt russell to be a badass again, and that's why he cast him as stuntman mike. but the sad truth is that stuntman mike WASN'T a badass. he ended up being a blubbering coward who started crying the second the tables got turned on him and then he got his ass kicked by a couple of women. i think it would've been much more effective if he had crashed, the women dragged him out of the car, he told them to f off, and then they killed him.

on a side note, i've often thought that QT made this film solely to get laid: he has these strong empowered women who end up exacting revenge on their male tormentor (every feminist's wet dream), which he expected would make women admire and like him as a result.

"will someone tell that mime to shut up?"
