it sounds like every line is

a. trying to be funny
b. trying to out funny the previous line
c. written by someone with no past success in writing, trying to hard
d. has nothing to do with telling a story, just trying to make a spin on words to try to be funny

example:
"how fast is this ship?"
"good question, but answering would be culturely insensetive...."

That's as funny as a dog starting at an apple. Really how is that funny?

Shot like a low budget reality show. wow just wow. cant figure out how this got a second season

writing is very good this second season. multi layered lines with different meanings that pay off in indvidual punchlines and ultimately one final gag. and typcially feature a call back zinger at the end of the episode to a previously set up joke.

Totally disagree. This show is brilliant and hilarious.

but....

how is my example dialog "Funny?"

I understand every word, and the BENT they were trying for, but maybe I just don't get it? Answering is somehow offensive to... well no one. So, as absurdist/abstract humor.... well, he could also have said, "but answering is like a dog staring at an apple."

Without context it's not likely to be funny, and character delivery is just as important as the words. I like this show, but don't remember that line specifically. Also, I think it's fair to say that every comedy series have lines they thought were funny that didn't actually work.

I was an early supporter of this show. I loved the first half of the first season and kept telling everyone to watch it because it's so funny. But about halfway through season one something was way off, and I watched the remainder of the episodes feeling like it had lost its mojo. I waited and waited for season two thinking it'll be better but it was just as much a let down. There was ONE decent episode in the second season and the rest all seemed not very good. And the way it ended... I had to make sure I was actually watching the final episode. Just like that... what!?

I don't see it coming back again. Such a shame because it was brilliant and fresh early on and then went stale.
