Ever been in a Fight?
I have, but only once, got the s h i t kicked out of me but both of us went down for a couple of days.
shareI have, but only once, got the s h i t kicked out of me but both of us went down for a couple of days.
sharei never got into a fight but one of my best friends did. we were playing basketball back in highschool (this was back in '02 or 03 i think) and this guy, also from our school kept mouthing off and being a douchebag cos his team was losing. my friend finally had enough after he called him sth i forgot and pinned him against the wall and asked him to apologize. he murmured sth and my friend let em go but the second my friend was walking away he lunged at him, yelling the same curse only to miss him. my friend turned around and broke his nose in one punch, then punched him in the gut or the ribs and had him doubled over coughin and *beep* that was pretty much it, if that counts. both of them got into a lotta trouble though. my friend was up for some spot on the team and he got refused. he thought he deserved it though ("i shouldn't have let him get to me") so whatever.
as for myself - both my friend and i learn karate (with bits of taekwondo added in because our holds multiple degree black belts in both) and i can attest to the fact that kicks to indeed help. i've won and lost sparring sessions because of kicks, and i've seen the same for many seniors at the dojo. and you don't have to take my word for it - watch that episode of human weapon on national geographic where one of the hosts who must be 6'4" and 230lbs or more got knocked flat and was out for several seconds when he got kicked in the head ONCE by a tiny probably 5'6" 140lb korean taekwondo sensei (don't know the korean word for it). kicks don't work my ass. tell him that. he'd probably send your head flying
laziest guy on God's good earth? ME!
To be honest no.. i'm 27 now and never really been in a real fight or been beaten up, just a few shoving matches and near-fights in high school that were defused by other people.. probably because i've been big since about age 16 so nobody ever really messed with me after that. I've always been curious about what would happen though.. everyone imagines themselves as competent at defending themselves however regardless of what training someone has, most real life fights i've observed seem to quickly descend into both people wildly swinging at eachother and whoever gets lucky and connects first, wins..

WOW, talk about rare. 27 and never been in a fight. Good for you man!
I definitely thought I was tougher when I was younger. It's not uncommon at all for people to have that sense of invincibility during their teens and 20's.

I'll bet the people who claim to have been in hundreds of fights are lying. I'm 21 and have been in two fights, not counting with my brother. The first was at a party when my friend got into a thing with a dude and it ended up degenerating into a 2 on 3 brawl. We actually had the upper hand even though I got a bloody nose and black eye. The second was outside a bar when some guy groped my girlfriend, it's the only one on one fight I've ever been in. I was alone with my gf and he had a couple buddies I was worried they would interfere but they didn't. This guy thought he was all tough but couldn't fight for sh!t he lost in about 10 seconds and didn't even seem drunk.
As for kicking, I'm going to side with the people who say it's gay, since I've only ever seen a gay guy use it, but also because I can't do it and don't want anyone pulling that on me.

There's some quality stupid in this thread.
1. Stop saying Boxers would kill martial artists. Boxing IS a martial arts.
2. Kicking bites. I got kicked in the liver once. Never questioned it again.
3. Grappling's where it's at for me. My BJJ and judo have served me okay. I do want to box though.

HAHAHAHA! This thread is hilarious, so many of these people are lying. Do you guys feel tough, claiming to have been in fights? I bet half of you haven't even punched someone before. But I believe some of you are telling the truth, of course, fights aren't THAT rare. Where I grew up, it was a way of life, there was no way around it at all, so the choices were to either adapt or get beaten to a pulp every day. I chose the safer option.
To me there's a difference between a fight and a brawl, a fight is more organized like say you and the other guy decide to duke it out after class and a brawl is a spur of the moment kind of thing. That being said, I've only ever been in brawls and most of the time it was bad for me and the guy involved. There were no profitable outcomes. Here's one of them that happened in high school (and I swear I'm not lying).
I knew this guy since we were kids but we weren't the best of friends. One day I acidentally stepped on his shoe lace and it got unravelled. He turned to me and he said 'Tie my shoelace." I said "No." He instantly punched me in the face and gave me a black eye. I stumbled backwards and onto the floor and I can see that he was almost as surprised at what happened as I was. Then, I went into a fit of rage and started pummeling him with some wild punches, most of which went into his ribs and took him down. Then I started grabbing on his hair and forcing his head into the floor then got pulled away.
And yeah, that's about it. I know, it's sad how people start a fight out of nothing. Sometimes I think they just want to vent and don't know how. Anyways, I've never started a brawl in my life and there were only a couple of cases where I can say it wasn't useless.
I'm 23. I've got seven more years of fighting before I say "this crap is too immature".

I watched when my friend was mounted, getting his face punched för no good reason, and my adrenaline got pumped so i kicked the guys head with mild power, to distract, and one of his friends (they were standing in a circle) punched me in my mouth, and i lost a chip of my fron tooth........ I guess if you interfear in a fight "beating" you will get punched in the face :/ Ive been attacked from behind, for no reason, and for standing up to people I know, but at what cost? I beated the *beep* out of one person once though, but for good reasons, you all would have done the same thing. Have I been in a Fight? YES, Can I fight? NO!!..nonononono
shareAbout five years ago (my 18th birthday) I was involved in a brawl. I always wanted to get into a real fight. I fought in school a couple of times but it was nothing more than a couple of punches. Well, these guys jumped the *beep* out of my brother so I call the guys and start making threats like a jackass. I gathered about 30 friends of mine at a grocery store where I was working and we were trying to get them to meet us there to throwdown. They wouldn't do it. They wanted us on their territory which was about fifteen minutes away. A lot of my friends didn't want to drive that far because they didn't think anything was going to go down. So only about seven of us ended up going. As soon as we get there, there's nobody around. So we go up and over this hill and as soon as we start down the hill all these guys come out of nowhere with baseball bats and brass knuckles and *beep* I admit, I was scarred as *beep*. My friend walks up to the biggest dude there and the guy throws him like three feet on to the concrete. Then, this dude comes out of nowhere and knocks me in the eyebrow. I knew he hit me with brass knuckles cause it hurt like *beep* and blood was pooring from the wound. Then, about six guys run toward me. I socked one of them in the face and remember hitting the ground and getting kicked and *beep* I started to get up and one of the guys slammed a baseball bat on top of my head. Blood poored down my face and I got a rush of adrenaline and took of running. I got the *beep* kicked out of me that night. Had to get ten stitches on my eyebrow and 8 staples on my head. Anyway, after that, I was never scarred to fight again. I've been in several fights since then and I've won everyone of them. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger lol
shareI got pulled into fights a few times in high school but never was the one to start them. If your group of friends is fighting another group of guys then you can't really just stand there.
As for the people at the beginning of this thread poking fun at kicks... I've seen people on the ground get their head stomped on (I literally watched as the person's skull flexed under the weight) or someone kneeling has gotten their teeth kicked out. I don' get how someone can think that kicking is a laughing matter, especially when it's to the face.
I kinda agree that it might be good for a kid to get in one relatively harmless fight while they are young and kids can't really do that much damage to one another (also before kids start carrying weapons if you're in an urban area). If you want to be successful in this world you cannot be someone who consistently starts fights with people and no one will want to be friends with you.
I figure if I have a kid some day I'll teach him to wrestle since even the biggest kids can be taken to the ground if they're not trained in wrestling or some MMA (99% of people aren't trained in either), and size doesn't matter that much when people are on the ground. I'd always teach them that fighting is only to be used in self-defense and even then only as last resort. Violence tends not to solve problems.
Nothing exciting about being in a fight. I like to watch boxing because of the skill. I'm not into fighting but I've been in two in my life.
shareI love how the gays on here talk down on kicks when a kick can break a arm, a leg and even kill a man. I seen a Muay Thai guy once kill a guy instantly with a kick to the head, and he got off with self defense because the other guy had a knife in his hand.
When you hear of someone dying from getting hit with a punch, it is usually because he hits his head with the concrete floor or against a object like table. But that kick kill that guy instantly because it snap his neck.
And had that guy block the kick, his arm would had been broken.
Plus in a fight you can break your hand from throwing punches. If boxing is what you do than use it because I love Boxing myself. But to say kicks is gay is retarded and the dudes who says this has never been in many fights or are gay themselves.
