The Coyote when they first get in the city tells us about these sun dried zombies that when it rains they all come back to life, so immediately you assume "OK at some point its gonna start raining and fuck our main characters over" but it never rains once in the movie and those zombies are never brought up again.

Just pointless shit. Why even have that in the movie only to never use them? especially when you make a point to tell us "Ok when these things get wet they wake up" and then never have them get wet.....so why the fuck did you even need to tell us that?

Would be like if in Gremlins after the son hears the rules about what not to do with Gizmo, about never feeding him after 12am, never get him wet etc, and he never breaks any of the rules and the movie just ends with nothing bad happening.

Except for what you talk about is something that happened in real life and can't be changed as you only have once chance do it, so your mother was right its better to be safe then sorry, but the discussion is about a movie that has been edited/viewed multiple times before its released so that part easily could have been taken out, so there is no comparison between the two situations which are totally different.

It feels like a lot of stuff was cut from the movie:
- the red bandana girl doesn't want to socialize and says she doesn't trust anyone, but then she seems to be friendly with the youtuber guy who's then very upset when she dies.
- one guy has a circular saw but it's not used on zombies, except to cut a lock.
- the leader's daughter is talking to her father and next she's outside hiding from zombies in a car without showing how she got there.
- just outside the vault the team finds the skeletons of another crew dressed identically, suggesting it could be them and they could be somehow stuck in a time loop or something, but the subject is never brought again after this.
- etc...

- when the daughter secures a hatch, a dead zombie hand falls down, blocking a good seal/lock, hinting it isn't secured (setting up the zombies can get in this way).

Good points but about the daughter, when they open the vault you can see her sneak her way out to go find her fiend

I watched again the scene and yes, she moves away, but there's also another guy walking in the same direction behind her, so it's not very clear that she's leaving. The next shot also shows her walking away but she's in the background and out of focus, so it's hard to figure out what's she's doing.
Then after the team talks some more and take the money with them, we see the zombies running in the streets and the daughter hiding in a car - but this is kinda confusing, because the scene with her leaving wasn't shot in a clear and direct way and you are left wondering how did she end up there.
