If the Night King has been destroyed, along with all of his White Walkers and undead then what exactly does the Night Watch WATCH out for?
Sounded like its sole purpose is to relieve prisons/dungeons. God knows what they do all day though

shareI think the whole thing with him going to the Nights Watch again was a ruse, and it was planned for him to just go north and live with the Wildlings, but they had to make it appear as if he was going there to satisfy Grey Worm. When Jon looked back at the gate closing on the other side of the wall it was him saying bye to the Nights Watch and everything else.
I doubt he gave that one last look at the gate closing if he intended to go back and be at the Nights Watch.
