Will she or won't she is a question anyone who's been paying attention has been asking themselves from early on. Dany had the capacity to be good and noble, and her father's dark side that lusted for power, those two parts of her nature have been at war throughout the series.

I think one of the points of Dany's story arc is that she didn't start off destined to become the Mad Queen. Her father probably didn't start off as a horrible guy either. Like most people whose lives take the wrong path it didn't have to be this way, where she ended up was the result of her own choices.

Now of course she's crossed a line that can never be un-crossed. She'll never be able to present herself as the benevolent breaker of chains and champion of the common folk again. Not with the indiscriminate slaughter of so many of them - AFTER the city had surrendered. The people will always hate her just like they hated her father. She'll have to be a tyrant, and rule the Seven Kingdoms by threat of fire and the sword.
