I've seen 2 Coen movies now and they were both pretentious piles of *beep*

How can the critics garble up this pretentious, and more importantly, POINTLESS *beep*

Both movies I've seen from them now (No Country for Old Men being the other) are complete trash.

They each have a bunch of scenes that could be completely removed and take away NOTHING from the film.

They even more scenes that could be shortened and take away NOTHING from the film.

They have characters that could be removed, and take away nothing.

Subplots that could be removed, and take away no enjoyment.

In fact, they should have just never made the movie.

For some reason in this industry if you try to make your characters as unlikable as possible, your plot as pointless as possible, and your ending anti-climatic as possible, critics will just suck your *beep* through a straw and call it ambrosia.

It was just completely unlikable in every way.

Seriously, *beep* all of you.

lmfao... wow, such a simple, silly, meaningless thread, still going on, while the OP thinks it's a huge matter of importance and everyone else just kind of laughs at the oblivious idiocy. Much like a Coen Brothers Film! =D

Burn after reading, is a good movie.

No country for old men is a good movie.

I think these things.

Others do not.

I agree. I've seen many movies from the Two, but with the exception of Raising Arizona (one of the best comedies) and Miller's Crossing (the best mafia movie of all time) everything they made was utter failure (not from awards stand point - but we know that an Oscar doesn't mean it is worth watching).
Fargo, Barton Fink, Hudsucker Proxy,Lady Killers, No Country, O Brother, Where Art Thou? felt more like a waste of time. And I swore not to watch another Coen crap anymore. Ever.

Well it's obviously 2deep4u and you should go back to watching Transformers.

Well if you still like the spy genre and Burn after Reading is a wee bit too complex for you, why not watch the new Spy Kids movie? No one could EVER call that pretentious, although the vocabularly might be a bit advanced for you.

What's great about No Country in particular is that you can enjoy the film on any level you like. If you're in the mood for a serious think you can look at the characters as personifications of fate, especially Chigurh. But ou can also enjoy it as an action packed, nostalgic chase film. Evidently, you're not about to reach the film on either of those levels, and that makes me think that even Spy Kids might be too taxing for you.

Lol, well, knowing this mickel guy, he'll probably find Spy Kids to be too art-house for him.

And I hate it when people on message boards can't differentiate between trolls and people that are just plain stupid. This guy is just stupid. I don't mean any disrespect to people who think he is a troll, since I absolutely 100 % get why you would think that someone this outrageously stupid and rude can't be real.
But really, can't you see so many specific things, opinions and idiosyncraties that no trolls would dream up? Even the films he's hating on are somewhat waay specific (being completely different genres, styles, only being connected by their writer/director team). If you're going to hate on two movies to get an outrageous reaction and stir up some shït, you wouldn't choose Burn After Reading and No Coutry For Old Men (two films a lot of people hate).

And I have seen obvious trolls get 100+ responses without anyone realizing they are trolls.

But neither of those things are as annoying as when people accuse anyone with a different opinion than themselves of being a troll.

Like on imdb. Every highly rated film, if someone starts a thread or answers a thread explaining how they dislike the film, they always get accused of being a troll, even if they are the most clever in the threads and makes way more detailed, well-put and respectful points than the same stupid people accusing them of being trolls.

There is no way you can go and start a thread stating why you hate The Godfather (or Avatar, The Departed and The Dark Knight) without getting at least one troll-accusation if you get more than 30 replies. Even if you raise great points and are respectful to those who like it. And it's always the stupid people with bad taste that can't differntiate between someone with a legitimate opinion (even if their post is really stupid) and people making up an opinion for trolling purposes (they have to be a bit outlandish or at least controversial, no troll risks getting 0 replies, and all their posts will be annoying, no one trolls in 1 outlandish post and then makes 15 serious ones).

And reading his posts he's not a troll, he wouldn't make hundreds of serious non-flaming posts that although displays hist stupidity just on the off chance that someone would check his user in his troll thread. Troll threads are started by people that when you check their post history every post is trolling, or when you check their post history every other post is more intelligent and more serious (meaning they troll from a user not intended for trolling).

Trolls make me laugh so hard, especially when they are fed by the unsuspecting.
