One of the worst miscasts of all time

Its hard to see bigger screw ups with the casting than Tom Cruise as the title character. Cruise neither looks like nor physically resembles Reacher from the books nor is he that talented in playing multi-faced characters. Can anyone honestly think of a worst A-list casting choice for any movie within the last few years?

Jeremy Renner would have been a better choice.

The 2012 adaptation of Lee Child's novel series Jack Reacher made the mistake of casting Tom Cruise. Amazon Prime's new series Reacher fixes this.

Um your mom as your mom? im serious, even Tom Cruise would be better than her as that.

The movie and the script were such a muddle. Honestly, Werner Herzog shows up as some "mystical" crime figure. If all Lee Child books are like this, I can't imagine how readers get through them.

Cruise was the least of their worries.

I love the books and know the character quite well (after read like 10 books) but I don't think Cruise was terribly miscast in the movie. He looked threatening as someone who has no constraints and can seriously kick some ass, even if he's not 6'3.

I enjoyed the movie very much.
I learn that it was a novel series and I've read five or six of the novels so far. I plan to read them all at some point but I read so many different things and different authors it will take some time before I go through all of these.

The point is, I went in blind. I knew nothing of Jack Reacher so when little 5'8" Tom Cruise played him.....I had nothing to go off of so it didn't disappoint me or upset me. I had nothing to compare it to.

I can see how someone who had already gotten to know the character via the books wouldn't like it that they cast this guy with Tom Cruise.
