I'm surprised so many chose Jessi
For me it's team Amanda all the way. Though I think the writers really neglected her characters and put few effort in developping her to the fullest. Which is one of the reasons why some people choose team Jessi, I think.

Amanda's innocence started to annoy me. She was always so girl next door, needing protection, following absolutely anything her mother asked her to. She whined a lot.
Jessi annoyed me at first, definitely. But I got used to her. In the later episodes, her and Kyle had to be together. It was the only thing that would've been right for either of them.
I just didn't get any chemistry with Kyle and Jessi. Even during the Kiss in the breakup episode. I think the girl who plays Jessi is gorgeous but she and Matt Dallas look like siblings to me, and that's almost how they are portrayed in the show. Incest is not Wincest in my book.

For what it's worth, on the commentary of the very last episode, writer Julie Plec says: "The love triangle was gonna be the foundation of the future of the show. You got Kyle graduating out of his puppy love relationship [with Amanda] into a very volatile and passionate, possibly exciting, complicated relationship with Jessi. And Jessi was gonna win."
shareThey have very similar looks and abilities. It reminds me of the hair flipping constantly screaming bullying sister combined with the calm innocent brother. Unfortunately a lot of my examples are animated but probably Buffy and Dawn (sisters but still).

shareI agree with whomever said that it looked like Kyle and Jesse's on screen chemistry was soooo much better that at certain times it seemed that they would burst into flames. He acted like an older brother or something for Amanda and the chemistry was just not there.
shareAmanda, her and kyle were amazing together and he liked her even before he knew what it meant to "like someone" Jessi just seemed too much like kyle to be with him it seemed like they were only together because they were both the same person. and the writer or producer (I dont remember) said that kyle was going to end up alone but I was still hoping for kyle to go back to amanda
shareI am different then :) lol I watched Kyle Xy in a span of 4 days, but I noticed everytime Amanda and Kyle had a chance to show their chemistry something always went wrong, or something stopped them. He was very tender with both Amanda and Jessi, but I think that Kyle and Amanda had a LT thing going on. With jessi it felt (for me) forced somewhat in the beginning (creepy Jessi always stalking him) and even after she didn't have the programming to make her do things, she still seemed obsessed with Kyle in a unhealthy way.
With Kyle and Amanda from the moment he got to see her play from behind and tears came to his eyes, everytime he would listen for her heartbeat, when they were in the tub together, when she flushed as he took his shirt off and gave it to her, when they were dancing at prom, all very sweet moments and had a true love type of feeling (for myself again). With Jessi it just seemed like an obsession, not true love, when they kissed it seemed like sensuality only and no real love.
They allowed Jessi's character to develop more, more on screen time with Kyle, more moments with Kyle and if Amanda had known the truth from early on (well as soon as kyle found out) and they had more on screen time together then I think they would have been an excellent match! :) The chemistry was never allowed to fully develop for those 2 whereas with Jessi and Kyle they were always together, always forced to be together and Jessi hanging around being co-dependent on Kyle.
As far as Amandas character being dull, I didn't think she was dull really, the writers could have done so much for her character but I guess they wanted to later on in the series (assuming this because amanda found out about kyle at the end of season 3). To myself, amanda was sweet, caring, "typical" teenage jealousy, but all in all knew what she wanted from her life, wanted music to be a part of her future, and she wanted Kyle to be a part of her future.
I think that Jaimie Alexander did an amazing job and that the writes really took a lot of time to develop Jessi's character, but they should have put that much effort into Amanda's character to show us more about Amanda besides her music and being smart.
