Team Amanda!

I felt from the beginning that Amanda was nothing more than a teenage crush. She was too perfect, too doll like, too naive and too demanding. It was always about Amanda and her needs and feelings. Kyle had to be there for her, never she for him. Kyle had to turn to Declan for support, because her girlfriend was too fragile, too full of expectations and demands how her boyfriend should act and feel. It was at best this victorian romance, a man protecting his woman and woman needed his man to make her happy.

I didn't like Jessi in the beginning but I had to admit that with her the show was interesting. She was not socially acceptable and that made her interesting. I remember thinking that it was good if she would leave with Sarah but at the same time I realized that there wouldn't be anything interesting left in the show. When Kyle saved her life, I understood that Jessi made things interesting. She was a handful for Kyle but she was acting, feeling and learning to put his feelings before her own.

Jessi and Kyle had a partnership. They had no traditional roles in the relationship. Instead they needed each other and could trust that the other one was there for him/her. No games, no perfection but a real life with mistakes and problems to solve.

Amanda was a dream, a standard for all the good in the world but she was never real, just a dream for Kyle. With Jessi they were partners but I agree that it was not a match made in heaven. But it was true and mature love.

Still, I don't think they were meant together forever. Adam abandoned Sarah and Kyle would probably had to do the same to Jessi, because she could easily pull Kyle too down in the darker side. At some point, Kyle would have to give up with Jessi, because her struggeling to keep away from her dark side, is probably too exhausting.

Team Jessi, I just loved her. I think Amanda is more the best friend type.

Im beyond Team Amanda. Im rewatching this show again as I found my DVDs. Kyle and Amanda had amazing natural chemistry. It was love at first sight for them both. Since day 1 they were soulmates. Jessi and Kyle had only had their test tube baby connection. Jesse was manipulative, rude, and betrayed Kyle numerous times.


Amanda is Kyles first Girlfriend so Kyles not really sure of what to do or what it means to be with someone. I think thats where the issues with Kyle/Amanda came in. Amanda is a good girl who was hurt by the *beep* Charlie and simply wanted to be actually loved.

Kyle is just unaware how to act. He hasnt been experienced in knowing the rules of a relationship especially when someone as ruthless and manipulative as Jessi is the other piece of the Kyle puzzle.


Jessi was programmed to get close to Kyle. It wasnt chemistry. She is nothing more than a live computer virus and Kyle is the computer.
