It's tough to really say, especially after reading this thread, cause a lot of you make excellent points and I do agree.
I did notice the term 'white girl' in this movie. You can't exactly help it, it is a bit overly used, could have lowered it a notch. But the term itself doesn't hurt, I myself have been called that a lot when I was staying with my boyfriend by some by passers just cause I was white skinned among them, but you know that they don't mean to hurt you with it, it's just an acknowledgment on how they perceive you from the outside since they can't base anything about you until they actually get to know you.
Here, it was used as an insult and you react that way. Of course different people react differently, all depends on how you yourself take insults, and I don't just mean this particular one. It's every single situation where a person is looking down on you saying things that you know are or aren't true about you, but putting in front the negative sides only.
Like if a person called you fat or stupid or ugly or too thin or anything really to hurt you or make you feel like you're not accepted, like you're bellow them because you're not like them. I think that's what she was trying to do with that term, not point out racism. She could have used a harsher word for that intention.
But racism is just purely stupid. It says, even in a dictionary, the 'white race' came just as well from Africa as any other. The skin pigment just mutated after migrating to countries that don't have much sun. It's a scientific proof that we all came from the same place. Therefore my and yours or someone from another country's genes are just the same. Now if the color varies, of whatever, may it be hair, skin, eyes, nails.. it shouldn't matter.
It's the cultures that are different, the lives that we're living. It's stupid to generalize people by skin color, I could change mine with a few trips to the tanning salon.
But, yeah, back on topic.. I don't think this movie specifically adjusts to that issue. I believe she was looking for an insult and that one was in place for that time.
That's just my take on it..
So come on get higher, loosen my lips. Faith and desire in the swing of your hips.
