two scottish actors playing cowboys Hmmmm?

the truth is that I love both Liam and Pierce and I couldn't wait to see this. Overall it is a good movie(slightly disapointed with the ending)

but as much as I love Liam and Pierce..I still found it rather odd that hollywood cast two scottish actors in the role of cowboys? Is there a problem with American actors? I mean I think George Clooney would have been great in Pierce's role and Gene Hackman in Liam's role

what say you?

do you find it strange that they cast two scottish actors in a western?

If you've ever watched Encore Westerns channel, Bob Bose Bell occasionally does a short thing called True West Moments. One of these was on the nationality of cowboys. It turns out that there was quite a variety of cowboy nationalities, all with their native accents. So using foreign-born actors with native accents is a lot more realistic than most people realize.

Using English, Scottish, Irish, et cetera, actors to portray ANY american from this period is far more realistic than using contemporary American actors.Where do you think white Americans came from? EUROPE!

I assume you were replying to the higher-level thread and not to my comment? Because my comment basically says the same thing you did. I think we are in agreement.

Liam Neeson is Irish and Pierce is Irish-American.

I think they are both perfect for the roles. I hate Gene Hackman
and George Clooney is too pretty-pretty.

Been watching the Hatfields and the McCoys? Kevin Costener in his
best role to date, and Bill Paxton is pretty good too. Real Americans.

Clooney would have made this movie more unbearable.

What is 'your' bloodline....America is made up of Europeans and Asians searching for a better life. I know my bloodline consists of Irish, English, German and even Native American. So had the Irish line been introduced just before the Civil War, these 'Irish' Cowboys could have been my relatives; of course, had this been a real life story and not just a movie for entertainment.
