Crank or Shoot 'em up

both got 7.1/10 on IMDB

So to those who have seen both, whats better i have posted this on both films pages to make sure its not just a one sided affair!

i personally liked crank more, it was equally cheesey and at times a little bit worse, but there were more moments i laughed at and it had less or possibly no horrible one liners.

crank had a better storyline opportunity that was not executed as well as it could have been. both films used some interesting camera work but crank to me wins on the editing, the snip shots and general weirdness

shoot em up was a very artsy and almost gun version of a oriental martial arts film with all the over the top kicks and punches. but had a incrediblly stupid (though i guess more original) story again poorly executed and too many rubbish jokes.

for me... Crack wins 6/10
shoot em up 4/10

I found Shoot Em Up much more fun. The combination of humour and ridiculous violence really did it for me. Crank for whatever reason left me disinterested. Part of the reason would be that Giamatti was a much more entertaining villain than whoever Crank was throwing out there.

Crank gets my vote. Didn't like Shoot 'Em Up I'm afraid.

reply

Crank for sure.
Shoot 'em up was actually very boring for me.

I dig Shoot 'Em Up. Best gun play movie I've seen. Plus I love that it pokes fun at all the stupid action movies I grew up with.

CRANK for it's over-the-top story, action and humor.

I liked both of them, but if I had to pick, I'd go with Crank, as well as the sequel, which pushed the limits of over-the-top-ness.

All I need is one mic...

Screw it. I'll have both Cranks and a Shoot Em Up to go. Thanks.

Shoot 'Em Up over Crank, but Crank 2 over Shoot 'Em Up. Don't get me wrong, the Crank 2 story is stupid beyond all belief, but so much fun.

I had trouble watching Crank to the end. Terrible storyline, horrible editing, weak action scenes, uneven pacing, and as far as I recall, annoying music. STU was about fun, bloody, physic-defying action, cool one-liners and a plot that while simple kept me excited until the end. So I'll go with Shoot'em Up.

I liked Shoot 'em up more. I would like to see a sequel to this film made by the same director. Another similar film which i like is: From Paris With Love (2010)

I must say Shoot 'Em Up.
