Thank You, you dumb Americans...

I was really looking forward to this Grindhouse film; both shown together with the fake trailers in between. We were told in this country (UK) that it'd be something not seen before over here, interviews and magazine articles talking about the double feature. I couldn't wait to go and see it.

And then what happens?!?

It gets released in USA first and people start walking out after the first film, UNAWARE there was a second film! What did you guys expect? Did anyone look at the posters?

So it gets marketed as two seperate films, just so it doesn't happen again.

Thanks to you idiots, we guys over here got two seperate films instead of the one Grindhouse we'd all been waiting over a year for.

So thank you America. For ruining a unique cinema experience for everyone else, just because you're too stupid to read the posters!

Dont call me stupid you dirty red-coat limey bastard. I think its stupid that you're head is so far up your own ass that you take it upon yourself to insult an entire countries intelligence because a couple of people walked out of a theater before the feature was over. Does it make you feel any better, you smarmy *beep*? You didn't get to see 2 movies back to back? I'm so sorry-- oh wait, no I'm not! I have bills to pay, so why is it you think that me or anyone else gives a flying *beep* about your little problems? Quit trying to start something, you stupid *beep* brit.

hahaha pretty much every one of you idiots just confirmed eddtedd's statement.
and yeah, even if you're not stupid posters are hard to read while you are rolling towards the counter to get yourself 5 pounds of nachos, a bucket of cheese sauce and 35 twinkies... the 1 or 2% that don't fall into either category, i feel sorry for. must be hard on them...

hey a-hole chill out. i paid my money, i saw the whole experience in theaters with a great crowd of americans who didnt walk out of the movie.
do you know double bills were something almost exclusive to the USA in the drive thru years. the winstiens thought since the UK and what not had never had that experience they wouldnt understand it so it was released as two films. npt to mention this film was pressured in the editting room to make its apirl 6th release date on easter weekend, a weekend in american not usually spent in theaters while the latest will ferrel cinematic dumping blades of glory was out earning alot in the box office with its pg13 rating. dont be so bitchy about it, the entire grindhouse experience was released in japan and not even in america so that something i guess i could complain about to the folks over in japan. thanks UK for voicing your complant, your jealously is well noted.

by the way the folks who walked out before the second movie already PAID there damn money.

And you're living your life for a double feature? That's just sad.

In the hick country town i live in down in Australia, we had Death Proof released in theatres and Planet Terror released on DVD a few months later alongside Death Proof. It also sucks that we only have one movie cinema who definition of high class cinema is something without guns.

"The films were split-up becasue there are other countries (such as North America) that have never heard of a double-feature, so the concept was lost on them."

According to the way americans walked out after the first film, it seems the concept was lost on them too, LOL

reply

were too stupid, yet your country isn't talented enough to create its own cinematic experiences so you have to wait months for something to be released in your country

Clearly this could've happened anywhere, but hey another chance to bash America because you are too insecure about your own country. Have at it

eddtedd:
*beep* you!
I enjoyed the presentation of "Grindhouse" so much that I saw it twice in theaters.
Not my fault that it had *beep* advertising here and that people would rather see *beep* like "Beverly Hill Chihuahua."
Don't assume that we are all so *beep* naive or stupid, you self righteous British prick.

Americans aren't stupid, and as a British person who has spent a lot of time in America I can honestly say that Americans are nicer people too, a lot less confrontational (well not on this board but whatever.) and as for this thing about Americans ruining the Grindhouse thing, no they didn't, if anything all they did was not see the whole thing, I went 3days after it was released and there was NO ONE there. The theatre was dead, I was surprised too because I thought it would be packed.

And anyway, it wasn't split up for the UK, it was only split up for the mainstream cinemas, because most of them didn't wanna show both of the together because of time constraints. Some of them didn't wanna show it because of the violence, which is the same reason why RAMBO wasn't big in the UK, because Odeon didn't wanna show it.

The only thing your whining about is the fact that you didn't wanna get your ass and look for it, like I did, I found about 8 cinemas playing it in its entirety, so stop moaning and start blaming yourself.

Economics alone answer most questions.

Unless hordes of people went to see it, it couldn't make money. A theater was basically asked to eat up the running time of two movies, while getting paid for just one of them.... for what? So that two clueless film-makers could recapture the novelty of this obscure arrangemnt from the '70s.
Good luck with that.
