Anybody else think Ms. Morello is just insulting?
It was funny at first but then it started to become a bit too much. Now I just find it way more insulting than funny.

It's an over-the-top comedy which deliberately mocks stereotypes. It's no more surprising that the bully is openly racist than Ms. Morello (the teacher) is sympathetically racist. One's an antagonist, the other a sympathizer; but both characters' obvious racism is intended as black comedy (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_comedy).
shareI have to agree. it did start off funny and now is just abusive and not funny.
shareShe's funny in that she doesn't realize she's being racist - she thinks she's being sensitive. That's the new racism in the US - by trying to be sensitive toward differences, the old stereotypes end up being sugar-coated for the idiots who actually say them. Ideally no one would even care what race someone is - and there would be no need for PC speak, just as there is no need for racism.
shareYes, she is, and let me add very ignorant! I have been watching this show a lot lately, and everytime she talks to Chris, she makes a very offensive stereotyping jab at him. Did Chris Rock really have a teacher like this?! This woman should have been fired a long time ago. This isn't even funny the first time.
"Go To Hell, Devil!"
Ms. Morello is the most stupidest and annoying character in any show. Her jokes (or so called jokes....) are not even funny and what she says is just so across the line. If I was at that school, I'd set her on fire.
sharei loved when chris took his dad's car to school, and everyone came up to him and said "hey, i heard you got your dad's car, that's great", and then mrs. morello walks up and says "hey chris, i heard you had a father! that's great!"
Jasper? Oh Hale yeah!

If you find the "racism" of Ms. Morello annoying, does the show as a whole bother you as well? If that does, it should. Its just comedy and blissfully ignorant racial comments.

Her body is beautiful but her heart is unthinking and insensitive or as "lovelyshoes" said, "she is such an ignorant idiot."
But, as "hooper-xxx" said many white people were very comfortable making very stupid, even racist, comments quite openly in the past. Look up old television news reports such those where the reporter referred to Martin Luther King as "Martin Luther Coon" or years before that, written reports which blatantly said awful things in print.
This was open, & blatant. Some stupid; some nasty. Some still idolize that time and these are the people bemoaning the rise of "political correctness." Such people want to get back to the "good old days" where they could just say what they want.
And, as "cagordon22" pointed out, many white people still make nasty comments. They just do it in private. Today, only the most savage right-wing racists -- Neo-Nazis, skin-heads, etc -- routinely express their racism so openly & blatantly.
However, so far, Ms Morello doesn't appear to me to be a malicious, hate driven, racist. Sometimes, she comes off as a liberal paternalistic type who views blacks as lesser humans e.g. little children who need white guidance. Other times, she just comes off as a moronic person who just casually expresses a lot of garbage she has heard about black folk; similar to the white people in New York who held up watermelons when Al Sharpton led a protest march in their area.

Why is everyone ragging on Ms.Morello for her racist comments? What about CARUSO!!! Hell, he said the n-word in the FIRST episode. At least Morello is sympathetic. Caruso is just an *beep*
shareWhat I find the funniest thing about her comments is when she says them to Chris when there are only white people around nobody notices. However if she makes a comment to Chris when another black person is around the person gets that what the F---- look on their face and Chris gives them that "Calm down I'll explain later look".
shareWhat about CARUSO
I have a friend who teaches in the inner city in Philly and he has told me some stories about the white teachers and how they treat the black children and they're just like Ms. Norello. He's white also and he's told me how some of the white teachers act like they're on a safari. They look around and actually say things like "Wow, the ghetto! Oooh, look, a real live crackhead! Wow, it's so real! We can save these poor kids." But as soon as the bell rings they are outta there. These teachers mean well, they don't hate black people, but they still have an ignorance and fear of black people.
George Carlin: It's all bullsh-t and it's bad for ya.
UUUHHH,yea. it's supposed be a real life character! in real life there are teachers like that and even worse so... But i get why the makers of this series put a teacher with that kind attitude!
shareShe gets on my nerves sometimes when she insult Chris, but its funny.

this is just to everyone who is like she is annoying or ugh her character...
Her being racist is on purpose to show how white people really feel about black people, she says what they think and won't say...Its for jokes, its super racist, but its funny how white people think about black people...Laugh people... its not that serious. i am black and just laugh and shake my head at it. because she is so ignorant. but yet she is ironic because she loves her some black men... its funny. this show is based on chris's life. he was born back in the day where racism was still bad. sooo why are ya'll mad? its a comedy. stop taking it so serious.
Yeah bigmille i agree! sometimes she does annoy me but then sometimes i just laugh because she sounds so stupid the things she says.and yeah that is funny how she's always talking bad about black people but loves black guys though. LOL
