Anybody else think Ms. Morello is just insulting?
It was funny at first but then it started to become a bit too much. Now I just find it way more insulting than funny.

shareI have to disagree. Ms. Morello is the embodiment of all the racist comments and implications that Chris Rock has heard from white people over the years. In the context of the show, Rock treats this aspect of his life the same as any other aspect, with comedy. I do agree in the sense that it is "too much." But that's the point. Also, it is insulting. It's insulting because its a racist comment that is said by an ignorant person. That's why its funny and it is, again, the point.

if you thought the white kids were smart wait until you get in class with the asians lmfaoooooooooooo
I love her. I dont find it insulting, it's just such a play on everyday stereotypes.
This is one of the best shows on tv if it gets cancelled i will be PISSED
wtf is up with this anti melanin on tv campaign!!!!! Fox pick this show up! HELP!
do you like fish sticks?
Actually to me it shows that Chris Rock is the racist. It's HIS writing that makes Ms. Morello a stereotype--and it's not only not funny, it's insulting to the multitude of white teachers who are not racist and who are dedicated to teaching all students who really want to learn. Rock has probably come across people who are racist, possibly he had a teacher who had no clue to a kid's feelings. But the show would be much better if he didn't have the most visible of Chris's teachers appear clueless about African-Americans.
shareHe's the racist? It's a show about his life, I have had experiences like that in the past and the fact that he brings it up is important. It might actually open peoples eyes to how we treat each other. Feel free to follow Shawn Hannity and complain about Obama putting Mustard on his hamburger and the other divisive irrelevant sh_t you types love to bring up.
shareAs a 35 year old white man who went to an elementary school with 2-3 black kids in every class, he isn't too far off... obviously not every teacher he had was a racist, he isn't saying they were. There was always a condecending tone, the majority of the teachers I experienced conducted themselves as if they were expecting the black kids to be thugs... even though they were kids.
There were enough positive white characters on the show to offset this, it would have to take some pretty horrific experiences for someone as smart as Rock to drop out. Experiencing extreme racism doesn't make him a racist... outside of Morello, the other teachers who were bad to him weren't as over the top as she was. If he sugarcoated it, he wouldn't be true to himself.
Overall, I am overjoyed with the way the season (series?) finale played out... gave me legit goosebumps. Awesome run for a brilliant show.
It was a great show.
I went to elementary school in New Jersey and I can tell you that there are teachers just like Mrs. Morello. Of course some of them less blantantly racist but you could feel that their expectations of you were low and whenever you did better than a white child some resentment was expressed one way or another.

I loved the episode where Chris was trying to get expelled by doing the Black power salute during the Pledge of Allegiance and she was copying him too.
shareThe character's racism stems from her obsession with black people (there are so many references to her sleeping with black men). It doesn't make it acceptable but it explains her behavior.
shareI think Ms. Morello's racist comments are based more on ignorance rather than malice. She's both annoying and funny in the fact that she doesn't mean to sound so insulting, but she is.
shareIn one of the episodes where Chris and Greg skip school, she caught them at the movies with her date who was black.
Don't worry be happy
I never found it overly offensive, at least not to the point where it bothered me. But the problem is... she's just getting predictable. It started off as funny and in a relatively short time it just started to irritate me. She gets plain ridiculous about it and does it far too often.
I get that this show is, in general, intentionally overly exaggerated. But... Morello is just a bit too much to even bother with.
one thing id like to add is that this is a show roughly replicating what he grew up with what do think happens in the 70's/80's when a there is a school full of white people and a handful of black students stereotypes come into play because they are not used to black people and are trying to find a way to relate. If he went to an all white school this teacher may not be an exact copy of his real life teacher, but could be an amalgamation and focal point for some of the funnier stereotypes he may have heard that he wanted to add to the show.
