the greatest romanian movie of all time

I want to start a poll on your favourite Romanian movie of all time(because many claimed this one to be it).Mine, after much thinking,is Niki et Flo(Lucian Pintilie's latest film).I'm waiting for suggestions

reply

1. "Niki et Flo"
2. "Moartea domnului Lazarescu"

Nobody mentioned anything about "Cel mai iubit dintre pamanteni" a.k.a. "Earth's most beloved son" (considered the greatest romanian movie ever made). That's my favourite movie till now. Today I'm going to watch "Moartea Domnului Lazarescu" and see if this one beats my favourite :)

I will go for "Balanta", "Prea tirziu" and "Niki et Flo". IMHO, Pintilie is from far the best Romanian movie director.

All Romanian movies are terrible, this one being no exception... bad acting and lousy writing everywhere, not much else to see. Romanian cinema has nothing to be proud of really, only to be laughed at. Well, this is bat country so I guess that explains it. Anyway, reading praises for Filantropica or Morometii always make me laugh, not to mention Niki, a huge flop even for Romanian standards - and remember that the Garcea movie still holds a huge record at the local box office. Quite a shame indeed.

Then again this pretty much fits the country.

Luckily enough, opinions matter only for the ones who posess them. ;)

just out of curisity how many of you are romanian ? I'm one

and my favorit romaninan movie is "Nea marin miliardarul" "operatiunea monstrul"

hey there, this is me, the tiger

Finally someone acknowledges comedies! A movie doesn't have to twist your mind and/or make you cry to be good. In my opinion, good comedies don't come along so often. Operatiunea monstrul is one movie that made me laugh to tears and still does. Amaizing story, actors and great and deep satire.

reply

Hi. I'm Romanian too.
I liked "Nea Marin miliardarul", "Filantropica" and I don't know yet what to say about "Moartea domnului Lazarescu". I've just seen it last night. I was hooked by it, it remainded by a bit of "Bringing out the dead" with Nicholas Cage (but just a bit).
The script was good most of the time, the actors were good too, the budget was tight and this is obvious... So, it has more pluses then minusses. I liked it.

1. Train De Vie

...

2. Occident
3. Cortul (or what was the name of the movie with the underground workers not knowing the Revolution had started)
4. Filantropica
5. Cel mai iubit dintre pamanteni

(green Romanian)

reply

train de vie, indeed
i think is a beautifull movie

Nobody mentioned "ASTA-SEARA DANSAM IN FAMILIE"... It's a masterpiece. Don't get fooled by the "communist" sound of the title; it's a very, very good movie.
Also - "DIRECTORUL NOSTRU", 1955. It's a film from the time when Romanian moviemakers made films according to the American school, not the unfortunate French one. :)

Oh, lieutenant, your men are already dead.

OPERATIUNEA MONSTRUL,ASFALT TANGO,FILANTROPICA
