Surprised that Michael Keaton was willing to be in this film

I know it is an easy paycheck for him but, if I remember correctly, he dropped out of the follow up to Batman Returns because he didn’t want to do the film without Tim Burton directing and I’m sure he was offered a lot more money for that film than the Flash. Granted he didn’t have to do nearly as much work in the Flash movie as he would in a regular sequel.

i remember it well, he was offered 15 million for batman 3, which was among the highest ever at that time

older actors arent as picky, they would rather take the money

robert deniro doing everything he is offered is a good example

harrison ford, as well ( having turned down JP in 92 )

reply

What is JP?

reply

I think that is Jurassic Park.

reply

yep

reply

From what I read he was only paid 2 millions to be in this.

reply

Keaton may have had a bit of a critic approved comeback, but that doesn't pay the bills. There's also been a dozen Batmen since. I don't think the role is as sacred as it once was.

reply

I don't even understand what was the point of putting his Batman character back.

It felt so useless and they absolutely ruined him (2 times in a row in the movie).

Obviously this is not even canon, it's not related to the Michael Keaton Batman movies.

reply

I think due to low cost, he did it for 2 million.

reply

He deserved a much better product.

reply

He is over 70, that is probably his last. From what I read after this DC is going to reboot everything.

reply

That's why it makes me even more confusion the point of bringing him back to treat his character that way.

reply

He is going to be history, so I think they tried to exploit his remaining value, make a quick buck.

reply

I absolutely hated it.

reply

Who gives you the right to dictate canon ?

reply

No.

Who gives YOU the right to dictate canon?!

reply

I’m not but I can’t stand people that because they don’t agree with the direction or quality of something that belongs in a franchise they dismiss it as not canon to make them feel better

reply

I can't stand people like you who don''t even read properly what the others say.

And yes, this Batman is NOT CANON at all. This is a fact.

reply

It is canon so deal with it

reply

It's NOT canon.

So deal with it and cry out loud.

reply

It’s canon and I can deal with it either way unlike you can

reply

Wrong.

It's NOT canon.

So deal with it and cry out loud.

reply

It’s canon. Learn to cope

Wrong.

It's NOT canon.

reply

Is canon

Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better

reply

*shrugs* It's a living.

reply

I could kind of see why, bc Keaton digs crazy zany nuts stuff.. and this was crazy nuts on another level..

reply

Because he wasn't playing the titular character, so no pressure to live up to any expectations, and because so much time has passed since he originally played Batman, the character would no doubt feel a lot more fresh and is probably way more fun for him as an actor to play, and also it's a nice gesture to honour long-time fans.
