How come it's usually females getting possessed?

How come guys can't share in any of this possession fun?

Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, The Grudge, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Devil Inside, The Innkeepers, The Unborn, ...and on and on and on.

Well I guess at least The Haunting in Connecticut was a guy….

Because when a girl is possessed, guys care, girls care, feminists care, everybody cares.

But when a guy is possessed, people don't give a ***t. No big deal. We do stupid things and get ourselves killed all the time.

My original thought is that woman have generally been seen as "pure and innocent" throughout history. I think the thought of a young, innocent woman being possessed instead of a man is much scarier. Though I could be completely wrong, who knows.

"Why, she wouldn't even harm a fly..."

When it's that "time of the month" it scares everyone.. including other females!

Well not really.
I'm not a history buff, but if I remember correctly, women throughout history were the Evil ones.
I mean... it's easy to understand, that in a Male dominated society back then, any male "indiscretion", was blamed on a woman trying to "entice" him. Like Succubus, Witches, etc.

Can you imagine the dialog between a Husband and Wife in Salem?

-I saw you leaving that *name*'s house, what where you doing there?
-Nuffin'
-Yeah I looked through the window, and "nuffin'", looked a lot like f#cking to me.
-I can't remember anything... That witch! She must have cast a spell on me, but don't tell anyone. I don't want neighbors to know about it.
-Of course not...

After couple of days... (Since women don't tell anything to others ) 19 of "nuffins'" were burned at the stake and 9 were to be sent to spend their live in prison (I'm sure they've been good looking ones, because executioners wanted some "nuffin'" for themselves

People are just jealous, because "voices" are talking only to me...

You guys really can't tell the answer? The guy would be with his dick out all the time slapping people or cumming green or just jacking it while saying profanities till the point is just as bloody as if it was being jacked with sandpaper. It is definitely something not apt for the big screens no matter the rating.

its a kind of type cast, same as ghost have to be a woman with black long hair
ghost cannot be a blond man with blue eyes
when blond man with blue eyes dies he does even directly I guess
even if representation of real people, ghost never have tattoos or piercings or things like this

so my advice is, if you do not want to be a ghost when you die, bleach your hair, get many tattoos and percings and opt for some bright pink outfit > you will never be a ghost

you're welcome!

for possession is the same, happens mostly to woman with long hair so just cut them super short and you will be fine

Women have been known to be the "sinners" and "easily yielding to temptation" since The Bible. Maybe it's also because women are naturally more emotional, curious and vulnerable than men (usually) so they are easier to "lead astray"... *shrug*

As I understand it it's an old convention that goes back to old stories of possession. Most of the historical cases that were thought to be possessions or similar things were young girls. The reasons for this have mostly been linked to latent mental health issues that are exacerabated by the onset of menstrual cycles. The association has stuck long after those illnesses became better understood.

From a dramatic standpoint, people usually feel like young girls are more innocent than young boys, so are more easily accepted as metaphors for the corruption of innocence.

Well, when I posted this back in July I never expected this many responses. Some very interesting comments and thanks everyone. It was sort of a rhetorical question, so I never expected so many responses. I've been corrected over and over about how some of the movied I mentioned are not "possessions." I guess I never gave that much thought.

I still think the Exorcist is one of the most intriguing and fun movies out there. Ok...I'll probably get attacked again.
