If there is a BI3, Sharon Stone isn't going to play Catherine, so what actress could take over this role. I believe Sharon Stone was brilliant in this role, and can't think of anyone else who could handle it. Any suggestions???
I heard there was going to be three women, Stone being one, and a brilliant actress named Zoe Lucker as another, ...but that's just talk I hear ... but I dont know who will be the third woman. Is BI3 true?

I really think Charlize Theron is perfect for the role of Catherine. Charlize has that charisma about her...the same voice also. But of course, she's alot younger than Catherine, so I dont see Charlize being in the next Basict Instinct , if there's one.
First of all Anna Paquin is not a girl anymore. Second Ellen Paige was amazing in Hard Candy, she frightened the hell out of me.
I do agree they are young to be Catherine but I think these actresses could pull it off. Also actresses like Angelina Jolie are obvious, I justed wanted to add a a bit of difference. But if you want actresses then here´s my choices
1. Lena Olin 2. Emma Thompson (Both these actresses were orginally considered for the role of Catherine Tramell back in 1991 and, in my opinion, they can still do Catherine since they are both good actresses and they are amazingly sexy) 3. Miranda Richardson 4. Ashley Judd.
Lena Olin is too old - she's 3 years older than Stone. Too hard looking. Emma Thompson is too old and isn't sexy enough. Also type-cast as a goodie. Miranda Richardson is mousy and weak. She's one week older than Stone. She couldn't pull off the role. Ashley Judd is too soft and sweet.
Yancy Butler can't act. She's made one B-movie bomb after another. You might as well say Rose McGowan. She has the look, but not the acting chops. You need some talented actress who looks innocent, but can instantly switch to evil.
Basic Instinct 2 stinks. Sharon Stone gave the worst performance of all. She was great in the first movie, but time hasn't been kind to her. She looks like a 48 year old woman who's had a stroke. Madonna could've done a better job.
Apparently, you've never watched the original Basic Instinct. She looks and acts innocent in several scenes. That's the whole point. Her character is a mass of contradictions. Cold, but innocent. Strong, but vulnerable.
"And Butler can act (she has an award you know.)..."
Winning an award doesn't prove that someone can act. It proves that some people liked her character more than other characters. I've never seen any indications that Yancy Butler could act. Her highest rated film is 5.95 on IMDB.
"that doesnt mean she has a great agent."
She has the look, but not the depth and talent. Rose McGowan would be better as Catherine. She's at least been in a few high profile movies, that were somewhat decent. Nobody even knows who Yancy Butler is. Oh, yeah, the girl in Drop Zone, 3rd billing. The girl from Hard Target, 8th billing. Those are the only movies she's really known for. And they're 12-13 years old. Her resume can't be blamed entirely on her agent. Watch her movies and you see why she hasn't moved on to better things. She can't act. She's annoying.
Rose McGowan is a more credible actor than Yancy Butler. Also, better looking.
miranda richardson would be great in that role...and i really don't understand the epithets 'weak' or 'mousy'! oh well, she was unwilling to play alex forrest in fatal attraction so i don't see how she'd go for catherine tramell!
"and i really don't understand the epithets 'weak' or 'mousy'!"
It means the opposite of STRONG / ASSERTIVE / DOMINANT. IMO, Vanessa Redgrave's daughter Joely Richardson would be great as Catherine. She has strong eyes and could pull it off. She's getting old, though.
Radha Mitchell and Naomi Watts are too sweet. They would give it a good effort, but I think other actresses could upstage them. Stone was perfect in the first. They waited too long for the sequel and ruined it. They got a cheap second-tier director and third-rate writers. Michael Caton-Jones is no Paul Verhoeven. The writers weren't in the same league as Joe Eszterhas.
The original was brilliant sleazy entertainment with depth and subtlety. Sharon Stone should have given up the role 10 years ago.
i hope to god that hollywood desides to make a remake of basic instinct in the near future cuz im an apsiring actresss...and i would LOVE to play the role of Catherine Tramile (sp)
First of all since i love sharon stone i think it desrespect of thinking to replace her
and second I really disagree on remakes of films. CERTAIN films should not be remade simply for tha fact that this way they would be the one and only and since this is a classic and a blockbuster i would'nt want a sequel. It's best to remember this film exactly as it is.
I hope they don't do remakes of the following films also: Against all odds, fatal attraction, the thorn birds, grease, flashdance, an officer and a gentleman, the exorcist chained heat or a nightmare on elm street.
They are all classics and i wouldn't agree on remaking any of them. They are all perfect and thats it
I think Naomi Watts would be perfect! i really think that Naomi Watts looks like a young sharon stone - Check out Basic Instinct - the similarities are pretty uncanny!
She wasn't a natural in the role. She had to work very hard to pull it off. Try listening to commentaries or reading interviews before you make comments. She's definitely great in the original, but only because she had a great director and script to work with. She had neither for the sequel. Michael Caton-Jones hasn't done anything good since This Boy's Life. He had a strong cast and script then. He's never done anything as good, before or since.
*beep* that i want sharon to star in it. This movie has made sharon a legend, sharn, has made this movie a legend. Why can't she see this? These scripts were written for her and only her. No one will be able to pull it off. The true fans of sharon will not see bi3 if she is not in it and only those who are fans of the new actress will see it. Bi without Ms. Stone is nothing. i hope that she realises that as hard as she works it is always worth it. I blame all the critics for giving this movie such a bad review. It was not bad and it wasn't good. It was excellent, SUPERB. I really hope that either she acts in a new one or there is no more bi movies.
Please explain why anybody would produce BI3 consdiering all the money that BI2 lost. You Sharon Stone fanboys are just pathetic in the way you cannot accept reality.....the film was a disaster,a total flop.
The only reason it was a flop is because people didn't want to watch it just because it wasn't as sexual as the first. for those who are interested in the storyline and not just for the sex it was pretty interesting.
