Let's face it, in real life there is sex. And boobs. And people who flaunt them, for various reasons. In my opinion, cinema is at it's best when it tries to approach real life. That's when I get the strongest experience from a movie. The nudity in Sherrybaby clearly served a purpose. It fit in perfectly with the portrait of Sherry that the filmmaker tried to convey. For an european it is so funny how a pair of boobs (half of the people in the world have them) can be so much more provoking than violence.

Her body was like her weapon, it's how she got the things she needed and wanted. She learned very early on that she could use it to her advantage.
( then of course she used it a little too much, ie: the dancing in sex clubs) But that is the result of being sexually molested by her Father which we see in the scene at teh birthday party.
