Defining Resident Evil Moment...

This is for everyone. Whether you just started playing or have been since the first Resident Evil. Name that one defining moment that just grabbed you and made you a fan of the series. That single moment that actually scared the crap out of you or just made you say "Oh, man... that's F@$*ing creepy".

For me it was from the first Resident evil. In 1996 I was about 9 years old and I was watching my cousin play one morning before school. I had no idea what this game was but there was a scary gorilla looking thing (hunter) and my cousin was fighting him with the shotgun. It looked like my cousin was gonna take him when all of the sudden the hunter backs up, screams and leaps throught the air and pulls Chris Redfield's head off. Then he falls down and "You Died" (or "you are dead" i can't remember) appears on screen. It happened so fast I couldn't believe it. To this day it's still the most shocking thing I've ever seen on a video game (for it being 1996, and nothing like that being on a videogame). Alright, that's mine.

I played 2 first, and enjoyed it, but 4 was when I really got hooked. I'd say the first moment that grabbed me was after you've barricaded the door in the village, and the cutscene shows all the villagers lining up, with the one with the chainsaw, and you're standing there with the puny handgun (I breathed a sigh of relief when the shotgun showed up).

Even now, knowing exactly where everything is and having all the firepower, I still get startled when you hear the primal scream they make, with the reving up of the chainsaw, and you know you've got a second to move before you can kiss your head goodbye. I dunno, is the sound so close and the revving of the chainsaw that is creepy. The females with the chainsaws have an even creepier scream. And don't get me started on that double bladed @sshole in the Mercenaries level.

The bug creatures also can startle you. And they're freaking hard to kill until you get the Striker or the Chicago typewriter.

I love to love my Lisa.

That's funny, I have that in common with the OP, the first time I saw RE was back in 1996, I was 12 and a friend was in the caves, fighting the hunters with the shotgun. I thought that was the coolest game ever. There have been some scary moments that will stay there forever, from the look of the first zombie in that cut scene, the first dogs jumping through the windows... To me I wont forget two moments, the first time you return to the Mansion after the caves, when there's a cgi scene of a Hunter following you and suddenly opening the door next to you! that totally got me out of guard, that stupid hunter took my head sooo many times!

In 1996 Resident Evil-Your in I believe the back hallway of the mansion and a disturbing sound is heard and when you get close it switches to a cutscene of a zombie chewing on Kenneth than he turns to look at you and gets up to come after you

1998 Resident Evil 2 whenever your outside hearing the chilling moans of all the zombies all over Raccoon City
