Has anything like this ever happened to you in high school?

I don't mean being raped, I mean being ostracized by your peers and/or old friends...

Pretty close, actually. I was sexually abused as a child &, while there's no way my classmates could pick up on something like that, they must have known SOMETHING was wrong with me & they honed in on that & decided to make my life hell. I responded by not talking to anybody except the teachers (which probably made things worse than if I'd stood up for myself). This carried on until I was about fifteen, when I finally started standing up for myself a little.

I haven't been teased or bullied since elementary. Still, I'm pretty shy and people sometimes treat me differently because they don't see me talking to anyone. I'm actually pretty normal to talk to, just sort of head-in-the-clouds so I don't really jump into conversations... I used to have a really tight circle of friends that I would see all the time, but once freshman year came around things really fell apart and now I only have one of my old friends (and made a few new ones). I still sometimes run into my middle school buddies but it's like we're strangers now. I'm going into sophomore year and I've decided that I shouldn't put the quality of my social life to other people's standards; I have a couple of good friends who I see occasionally, I have goals and hobbies and a family, and I don't mind being a bit of a "loner". It won't last forever.

yep.

after a YEAR of tormenting in my new class when i started secondary school, i moved classes to be in a class with my friend. then my friend became a total bitch to me and once tried to push me down the stairs. i mean i INVITED THAT BITCH into my house!
she made most people turn against me and i basically was a loner for about 1 and a half years.

all is well now :)

Nope. There were stages of giving the cold shoulder over certain things, but nothing like what Melinda experienced.
