People who can't dance hate this film

I think this movie is highly underrated. People just hate on it because they don't appreciate good dance moves. I snuck a cup of orange sherbert into the theatre when I saw it on opening night and I was so blown away by the first dance scene that I dropped it all over the floor(what a mess). But I also had an extra large popcorn. This guy sitting next to me would get an erection everytime Omarion did a spin or a knee-slide and that was a bit uncomfortable, but it didn't ruin the overall experience. I think everyone should watch this movie again and then vote 10.

P.S. Does anyone know if they will be filming a sequel.

im sorry but this movie is 2 hours of stupidity, the dancing was decent, but im afraid just about everything else was poor, this movie was made to appease u ignorant gangsta masses, i laugh as i read ur desprate attempts to sound tough and "hard" on these boards, no, none of your homies or you for that matter are going to do anything to anyone on here so stop kidding yourself, nextly stating something so ignorant as "well if u dont like this u cant dance!" isnt a very good way of trying to defend ur beloved trash :/, try using some sort of actual facts or atleast generate an intelligent thought. . . theres a reason this movie is on the bottom 100 of all time u mindless sheep, so why dont u go, get an actual education, grow civil, then try again, ok? u can go blaring your unbacked up,moronic remarks to me now just because i dislike your crap. ill be actually going somewhere in life, u can stay the lowlifes u are.

(and surprise surprise for u nimrods who wanna just shout racism, im black)

Wow, a movie topic thread to a freak show in less than 10 replies. I am absolutely flabbergasted at all the rhetoric exchanged here, and for what? A hip-hop/street culture B movie that definitely deserves its place in the bottom 100.

I found myself originally only wanting to respond to the original post but afterwards I found I had much to say like many of you, so I will streamline my thoughts for the benefit of the readers.

Yokel, although I respect your love for dancing and even enjoyment of the dancing in this film, your logic is terribly flawed because you're failing to see that if you remove the choregraphical aspects of this film (which really is the only thing you're raving about, rightfully so), then you're just left with stereotypical cliché tripe further exacerbated by poor acting that by no means deserves a second look. In addition, your “background” descriptions dealing with sherbet and some guy’s erection are just plain odd.

Whenwood – Although I agree with you when it comes to the film, professional dancing should be respected. Many dancers put a lot on the line to entertain others, with the smallest of injuries potentially career ceasing. On top of that, you pretend as if there is no mental aspect to dancing. You are dead wrong. Try to memorize a whole dance routine; it’s not only exercise on the physical level. And to repeat and execute those moves or even freestyle utilizes both the right and left sides of the brain. And if nothing else it’s fun and a great source of exercise, which a lot of people need these days. There’s no inverse relationship between ability to dance and intelligence, so try again.

HideoKojima - As a black upper middle class professional I know exactly where you’re coming from. Sadly the glorification of the ghetto/street lifestyle has ruined a whole generation of young Americans and it’s heartbreaking when you consider that many people of all races not too long ago in this country fought for equal opportunities and a positive representation of black people only for this to happen. As far back as I can remember, myself and my parents had to deal with ignorant people who came to view being black and being educated, articulate and hardworking as a dichotomy and it’s insulting to those of us out there who fight these notions day in and day out.

But I digress…

The movie if you choose to watch it is best viewed on DVD or through a free premium on demand service from digital cable or satellite so you can at least fast forward to the actual dancing and leave it at that. It worked for me ;D

yup yup yup. and i would give yokel an F- for the title of this thread.. i mean, common sense, those people who can't dance are the ones who are probably more drooling to watch this movie. and what's up about that "ive got thae moves" and "i buy a new pair of shoes every other weekend..." crap, so what man? So WHAT? ;-p

This movie is so tight man! That part when the white dude gets in Omarion's face and is like "You just mad cuz tonight, Y'ALL SUCKAS GOT SERVED!!!" I was like thats the best film line I've ever heard. I mean Brando's "contender" line from On the Waterfront has been eclipsed! I think they held a screenplay writing contest at a middle school and the winner got to write this script.

oh man I laughed out loud when I first saw the rating for the film, one of the worst ratings I've ever seen on IMDB! I would of given it a 4 out of 10 just for the dance moves, but yea the rest did suck.

Everyone has their own opinion about movies. Maybe some people aren't into dance movies. Maybe some people are. The movie could have been better, as far as the plot of it. But overall I liked the movie. The dance moves were tight as hell, and the dancing part had my adreniline pumping. I don't think they NEER to do a sequel. Some movies are "sequel qualified", and some aren't. This one isn't. They got their point across @ the end of it.

I can dance but the movie was really horrible. The acting was really bad the only actor who actually knew how to act was Marques Houston and he's been doing it for years. I do have to agree the dance moves were amazing but the plot was just unbelievable. It made no real sense and somebody didnt do the math correctly why is everybody so damn happy at the end if i was them i would be wondering how much my cut was. Because from the looks of it, it wont be very big. But thats just my opinion.

If you didn't spend the whole movie worrying about what you brought to eat, or your friend's errection, you'd notice this movie was a car-crash in slow-motion.

Think first, then speak. Actually, don't.

reply

The problem with the movie was not the choreography, but everything else with the movie. This movie is awful and a sequel should not even be attempted.

Dude,Mieke's hideous RUN!

reply

I can dance and I still hate this "film"...the term "film" by the way is very generous for this atrocity. The writers, director, and actors should be charged with crimes against humanity.

reply

Vote it a 10 just because you think people dont appreciate "Good dance movies"?? Please tell me your joking?? So I guess the low IMDb rating was a bad coincidence and this movie really is that good? Yeah right, this film was a waste of a production, end of story.
