I've been hearing comments that this movie is for "old people". I guess that's because most of the actors are older, but still. Like, I'm 15 and I loved it. Partly because Jeremy Irons is my idol. So how old was everyone when they saw it?
I'm 25. This movie grabbed me and didn't let go. It was an inspiring kind of story that really had you rooting for the heroine, and relishing the triumph of her self discovery along with her. The writer really turned out a great piece of work with this one. It was such a fun movie, and the ending was wonderful. Annette Bening did wonderfully, and I know that as an actress she probably had great fun with this role. I plan to own this DVD, because it's one that you can enjoy over and over in my opinion.
I'm 16 and I absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Annette Bening was wonderful, as was Jeremy Irons and the rest of the supporting cast. Now, it may be because I am a *huge* Irons fan, but I found his facial expressions to be hilarious...especially during the final scene with the play. *sigh* Jeremy Irons...
ahem...anyway...ah, the movie...it was definitely a delightful romp and just an all around, well, good movie. I believe Annette Bening very much earned her Golden Globe, even though I was partial to Emmy Rossum as I am also a huge Phantom of the Opera fan. Well, Bening beat the hell out of Rossum in the acting category. Damn, I want this movie on DVD now. :D
I'm 21. Although I don't have many life experiences, I absolutely enjoy the film and the final revenge of Julia! Annette Benning was outstanding. It's really a pity she didn't win an oscar.
Just finished watching it for the first time. I loved it. I'm a 22 y/o male. Annette Benning was fabulous and is one of the best screen actors we have today.
Don't go into shock. I am 81 years old and enjoyed this film for the third time. I read the novel in my twenties and saw the stage version when I was 46. It's a very amusing piece of fluff with excellent performances by the entire cast.
I'm 41, so I guess I'm between "young" and "old". Loved it, though, maybe because I also do some theatre and loved the theatre setting. Actually, I just started a new show, and just today at a rehearsal, the director reminded the newer cast members about the concept of "playing fair" onstage--the exact opposite of the climactic scene of this film, of course!
