Philip Seymour Hoffman = Greatest Villain Ever

I mean that. For the very first i was really kinda scared of a villain in an action movie. You know, all the bad guys in this sort of movies have been some people laughing evily in the camera and stuff. But when PTH tells Mr. Cruise that he would kill Cruise' dearest, i really believed it.

He was good, great, but you can't forget Clarence Boddicker and Hans Gruber. The two greatest.

Agree 100%!

Best. Villains. Ever.

In what way were they great villains?

Go watch 'Die Hard' and the original 'Robocop' and you'll find out.

I thought he was very great. Especially considering how generic the villain is on paper, he's such a great on screen presence. And one of the few villains that was genuinely intimidating and that I also wanted to punch in the face the entire time.

You're so right. I remember watching this back in the day and just thinking wow. he's great. He does something with a character it's hard to describe.

I don't know... while I like PSH's acting, Damian was just too cliched. The old "I'm gonna hit you in your most beloved place and you'll never see me coming" villain, you know... I also felt that there's something missing like a bigger purpose. Take the villain of MI5 for example, that was a great villain. Damian felt like a generic action villain played by a great actor.

Hoffman was great.

He's not a phony villain compared to others I've seen. He's not one you would think of as an extremely dangerous person. Yeah, he's a great villain.

'Mission: Impossible III' Still Has the Best Villain of the Franchise

While not as loved as later installments, the franchise's third outing stands out because of its main antagonist.

He was awesome and more than made up for MI:2 which was the worst so far in the franchise.. John Woo was simply the wrong filmmaker for that movie
