Philip Seymour Hoffman = Greatest Villain Ever

I mean that. For the very first i was really kinda scared of a villain in an action movie. You know, all the bad guys in this sort of movies have been some people laughing evily in the camera and stuff. But when PTH tells Mr. Cruise that he would kill Cruise' dearest, i really believed it.

I agree. He was very evil. By the way who was more evil? Davian or Qualen from Cliffhanger?

I thought that Phillip was a rather convincing villain in the film.

reply

I didn't say he wasn't convincing.

reply

I agree.he was brilliant in this film

This may have been what sparked my interest in him as an actor. Sad to see him go.

The opening sequence is still jolting!! Hoffman also blows Cruise away during their scene on the plane.

I don't believe he was the greatest villain ever in this film, but my goodness, Phil was a supremely gifted actor.

I wouldn't say greatest but probably the best of the MI Movie Series. Watching Mi3 at the moment and he's pretty damn chilling. Threatening Ethan's girlfriend, telling him that killing his little blonde friend was fun, counting down from 10, etc.

Yeah PSH was epic as a stone faced menace. PSH was such a talented chameleon, he could play a gay goofball to a neurotic mattress salesman gangster wannabe, a drunk, a menace, TRUMAN F'N CAPOTE, and many other roles just flawlessly. (Including IN the movie Flawless. .) A true talent such a loss for film lovers with his passing. RIP PHILIP!

He really was convicing as a violent, completely compassionless man. The only things he seemed to feel were greed, hatred and fear.
